Dog Walker,

And just to link your thought to the topic of the article, these are also the people who DON'T CARE ABOUT THE PRICE OF GAS because they know they can use their public vehicles to do most of their chores.

That's another point: a lot of liberals could truly care less how much suffering their policies cause for the vast majority of their fellow citizens.

It USED to be, of course, that a life of government service gave one job security and even a decent pension, but in return you got FAR less salary than a private sector worker in the same field and job-level. Now government workers - and yeah, particularly police and fire - ARE gods. They get far more of EVERYTHING because they are union and people in unions are parasites who leech off of others as a defining trait.

I was a cop once myself. And I can tell you that most cops don't get into police work because they want to live high off the hog; most want to help people and be part of something (justice) that's important.

But what happens is something changes over time. It IS a draining line of work and it changes a lot of people in negative ways. For one thing, cops tend to develop an "us and them" mentality. It's police, civilians and perps. And over time you look at the civilians more and more as sheep and YOUR the one standing up for society. And so the civilians get psychologically lumped in with the perps more and more. And the attitude of veteran cops is basically, "Screw them." And by the time the veteran cops who get into union work get to that point, their attitudes are too cynical to be fit for their jobs of protectors of society rather than being different kinds of predators who live off of it.

Police and firefighters would do the job for the older system that DIDN'T make them the kind of parasites they are now. And who knows, the lower pay would probably encourage surly, cynical veterans to find a different line of work that they are more emotionally suitable for.

Tell me if I am a funny guy. Maybe I should say incongruous.
I went to the gym yesterday where I am kind of reminded that I am not particularly well liked. Paranoia?

Here is the deal. I am outspoken at public meetings. I have the audacity to criticize the increasing demands our "public safety" boys are imposing on our crippled economy. These guys insist that they should get raises automatically regardless of how well their benefactor, the humble taxpayer, is doing.

I stumbled into a particularly effective argument a few weeks ago.

I posed that a typical Social Security benefit was no longer adequate to pay property tax. I reminded the council that their employees, their government, doesn't "honor" the commitment to keeping the elderly out of poverty and homelessness like the "honorable" taxpayer does.

Rather these government employees are the guys that you would seize houses on behalf of. Are they asking for a lining wage? No. They want jet skis to put next to their Harleys... to put next to their Escalades... to put next to their Winnebagos ... in their custom houses.

I made a pretty damn slam dunk argument. I ended with something like... I will admit that we owe them a modicum of respect and gratitude. But they are not gods. We do not have to worship them.

Anyway, I could go on and on.

But I kind of lost my original theme which I was going to talk about who is driving the super duty crew cabs and Escalades. Yup. Government aristocrats.

Dog Walker,

Yeah, you sure get the liberal boondoggle part of the energy scam. Obama acknowledged he was FINE with gas prices going up; he just wanted the price increase to be gradual so that the people won't blame HIM was all. And he picked for his energy secretary a man who literally said he wanted gas to be the same price that they pay in Europe (up to $10 a gallon!!!). And of course, given the fact that the United States is the global KING of coal - producing so much more than anybody it's beyond unreal - you see Obama saying that under his plan he would "necessarily bankrupt" that part of the productive energy sector.

You see, oil and coal are SO much cheaper and SO much more effective than any liberal energy boondoggle that the ONLY way you can force people to buy this crap is to basically destroy oil and coal through taxation, regulation and refusal to allow them to increase domestic production. Or, in the case that is now gripping California, TO ALLOW PRODUCERS TO REFINE IT.

And of course liberals are trying to force car manufacturers to produce more and more fuel-efficent and "green" cars which will "necessarily" drive up the price of cars beyond the ability of average people to afford them. Obama already DID screw people who relied on used cars with his "cash for clunkers" program that destroyed MILLIONS of cars that poorer families would have LOVED to have.

An analogous liberal mindset was AARP with its support for ObamaCare. Why? Because as Obama gutted $700 billion out of Medicare, for instance, you create a new need for the "supplemental insurance" that AARP conveniently happens to sell.

Getting back to the previous paragraph, ultimately what the left wants is to price poor and lower middle class families out of being able to own a car in order to force them to rely on the public transportation they have always imposed whether it was useful or not. For instance there, liberals in California are spending BILLIONS of dollars they don't have to build a high speed rail train that will go from Bakersfield to Fresno. Why the hell does ANYBODY think we need high speed rail between Bakersfield and Fresno???

Yes, this might be the tipping point for an undecided like myself. So I see evil crappy predatory politicians coming in chocolate and vanilla and my pals tell me to pick the lesser evil. Gas priced beyond the reach of middle class. Obama says "get used to it." I say "not Obama."

In my city you see guys putting solar panels on their roofs. Part of me says "whoa! Cool!" Then I go to a PRC meeting to have my say about rising electric costs and there I find out that these solar panel advocates, buyers and sellers actually WANT HIGHER ELECTRIC RATES!

See here is the deal. Those solar panels are supposed to become a "distributed" electric grid. Everyone who has one envisions himself selling his surplus electricity to the grid. Those guys want higher electric rates. The higher rates make the sales easier for the solar panel salesman. Higher rates get a quicker "return on investment" for the buyer. Who loses? Oh, guess what? The whole thing becomes kind of a hidden tax for the poor.

Oh, and did I say "return on investment?" Those guys that buy them get a tax credit. That means they own property and have jobs. From my sample set I see a high preponderance of government employees or really government aristocrats as buyers of solar panels.

So it is kind of like another incarnation of the environmental con job. Government aristocrats stick more crap up our noses, tell us it is perfume and tell us they created jobs in the solar industry when all of that stuff comes from China.

In my city that industry went full cycle from blossom to fizzle in like two years. It is toast. All that remains is the bill.
