Obama’s Plea to Ignore the Facts Questioning His Patriotism

Poor Barack Obama. Somebody’s always picking on him, and he’s clearly not emotionally equipped to handle it:

“I have found, for the first time, my patriotism challenged – at times as a result of my own carelessness, more often as a result of the desire by some to score political points and raise fears about who I am and what I stand for,” he said before a crowd of a few hundred people at the Truman Memorial Building here. “I will never question the patriotism of others in this campaign. And I will not stand idly by when I hear others question mine.”

Now, Barack Obama pretty much “stood idly by” while Wesley Clark, John Kerry, Tom Harkin, and Jay Rockefeller teed off on John McCain’s career and record of military leadership. Obama supporters whack away at McCain’s military service record with an axe; Obama says something sort of nice in a neutral sort of way about John McCain; and then another (and then another) Obama supporter comes out and goes at McCain’s service with a chain saw. Obama’s got his surrogates out there doing his dirty slime jobs for him. But that’s another matter. It’s also another matter that Obama yesterday trivialized the attempts to undermine and attack John McCain’s military career.

The thing I appreciate the most about Obama’s statement is how it reveals the sheer arrogant chutzpah of the man. He’s never questioned John McCain’s patriotism, so nobody should ever be allowed to question his.

John McCain is a war hero who spent 5 1/2 years being routinely tortured in the Hanoi Hilton. Barack Obama spent 23 years in a racist, anti-American church under a “God-damn AmeriKKKa”-spewing Marxist preacher.

I mean, it’s a little like Benedict Arnold saying, “I never questioned George Washington’s patriotism, and so no one should dare to question mine.”

I mean, come on!!!

This is an attempt by the man who spent 23 years in an anti-American church, who got himself into trouble by his holier-than-thou stance against wearing American flag lapel pins while talking smack about those who did (I notice the pandering demagogue never leaves home without one now), who has repeatedly associated with virulently anti-American radicals such as terrorist bomber William Ayers, whose wife has said that America is a mean place in 2008, and that she had never been particularly proud of her country, trying to neutralize an issue that clearly disfavors himself and clearly favors his opponent.

Remember this one? It passes the Snopes.com sniff test:

Do you see Barack Obama giving John McCain any grace on ANY issue whatsoever that favors Obama? Is Obama showing McCain a little love on the economy? On race relations? On “women’s rights”?

Nope. The man is ruthless. Here’s a guy who threw his own grandmother under the bus.

Obama preemptively slimes both McCain and Republicans on race when neither have even used it in a clear attempt to portray both as racist:

JACKSONVILLE, Florida (Reuters) – Democratic presidential contender Barack Obama said on Friday he expects Republicans to highlight the fact that he is black as part of an effort to make voters afraid of him…

“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black?”

Obama viciously attacks McCain as being some kind of horrifying anti-woman dinosaur:

“John McCain, if he’s elected, is going to pick a Supreme Court that will roll back every gain women have made in the last 50 years.”

Obama – both personally and through high-level surrogates – is as willing as any politician in recent history to engage in pure slime-bag politics, and I’m supposed to feel guilty that people are legitimately questioning his patriotism and his commitment to the American way of life?

What is it that ABC’s John Stossil always says? Give me a break!
