New York Times Endorses Obama As Stock Tumbles To Junk Status

This is what they call poetic justice: the New York Times officially endorses Obama on the same day that Standard & Poor’s downgrade its stock to junk status.

If you’re going to nominate a junk candidate, you might as well make it offical and BE junk.

Maybe being in the tank for liberals, using unfair and deceitful tactics to smear Republicans, and being just generally a disgrace to journalism isn’t the best business model to build upon?  Maybe future newspapers might come to recognize that their readers might want at least an occasional dose of actual truth in their news?

The New York Times says in its endorsement:

Hyperbole is the currency of presidential campaigns, but this year the nation’s future truly hangs in the balance.

The problem is that “hyperbole” – and much worse – is also the currency of the New York Times.  And now whether the newspaper or its stock is worth more than toilet paper “truly hangs in the balance.”

Reuters begins its piece on this delicious bit of news by saying the following:

NEW YORK, Oct 23 (Reuters) – Standard & Poor’s on Thursday slashed its ratings on the New York Times Co (NYT.N: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) into junk territory and cited concerns about the newspaper publisher’s revenue outlook, after it posted a third-quarter loss.

Moody’s Investors Service also said it may follow the move, adding the publisher faces risks in refinancing its debt.

The New York Times posted a quarterly loss from continuing operations on Thursday and said advertising revenue at its news media group dropped 16 percent for the quarter. For details, see [ID:nN23398087]

Thus we can say with rather precise accuracy that the New York Times’ endorsement of Barack Obama is junk; heck, the whole paper is junk!

Bye bye, New York Times.  Say hello to the Dodo bird when you see it on the road to extinction.

I like the headline! It’s time they feel the pain too and maybe enough Americans will wake up to see the truth about who is responsible for the current financial melt-down. It is time that people understand that Wall Street and those who protect them present the real danger to the people. I hope the NYTimes goes belly up! It couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of people!

    To provide a colorful metaphor…
The New York Times is the pus-filled, cancerous lesion on the anus of journalism. We have come full circle from William Randolph Hearst. He owned newspapers in San Francisco (the San Fransisco Examiner) and New York (the New York Morning and the New York Evening Journal). He also owned papers in Chicago (Chicago Examiner) and Boston (Boston American).

In other words, he knew the places where truth was worthless, and where people were craven enough to believe whatever lie was presented to them.

A century later, nothing has changed.

The media had a Constitutional duty to keep the political process by revealing the truth. But like so many other aspects of how our Constitution is now useless due to liberal “interpretation,” the media has become the propaganda wing of the Democratic Party.

Look at the most recent survey from the Project for Excellence in Journalism:

Obama gets positive treatment 36% of the time, neutral treatment 35% of the time, and negative treatment 29% of the time.

McCain gets positive treatment 14% of the time, neutral treatment 29% of the time, and negative treatment 57% of the time.

Obama gets nearly three times as much positive treatment, and McCain gets nearly twice as negative treatment.

It gets REALLY bad for Sarah Palin, who gets positive treatment only 6% of the time, with negative treatment 64% of the time.

How can Republicans receive a fair political process given these kinds of disparities? And this is BEFORE we consider the fact that ACORN is now involved in voter fraud in at least 15 crucial battleground states!

    Propaganda. Pure and simple.

If there were more in media like Barbara West out of Orlando we might have a chance! She asked intelligent and direct questions and Biden and Obama PUNISHED her network. You can’t quote Obama, ask a question without without being cut off. Scary!
If this happens before Obama is in office WHAT will happen to conservative media if he does???
I really hope this gets a lot of coverage in the msm. Though I doubt it.

  4. Michael Eden Says:

Barbara West had 4 minutes to ask some questions. And the fluff stuff asking Obama if he knows how wonderful he is had all already been asked.

West asked questions that needed to be asked, but had not been. The media has not allowed such questions to be asked, and attacked McCain ads that tried to raise these legitimate issues.
