Fascism Thriving In “Democratic” America

The title of the following story could easily have been, “I know you are, but what am I?”

Student Sues Community College, Alleges Professor Called Him ‘a Fascist Bastard’ in Class

(CNSNews.com) – It’s tough enough for most college students to give a public speech. What if you gave a speech and your professor interrupted you, called you “a fascist bastard”–and refused to give you a grade?

That’s what Los Angeles Community College student Jonathan Lopez said happened to him in his Introduction to Speech 101 class in late November, according to the Alliance Defense Fund (ADF), a religious rights law group in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Last week, on Lopez’s behalf, ADF filed a lawsuit in federal district court in Los Angeles against the community college’s chancellor, individual members of the board of trustees and speech professor John Matteson for allegedly violating the student’s First Amendment rights.

Lopez, who was a student in Matteson’s public speaking class, simply shared his beliefs on faith and marriage, accordingt to David Hacker, an ADF litigation counsel.

“He was given–like all other students in the class–an assignment to give an informative speech about any topic. It simply had to be 6 to 8 minutes long, and students could talk about anything they wanted,” Hacker told CNSNews.com.

On Nov. 28, it was Lopez’s turn to give a speech.

“He chose to discuss his faith and the role that he has seen God play in the lives of others, as well as his own,” Hacker said. “During the speech he read the dictionary definition of marriage and two Bible verses.”

Neither the court document nor Hacker said what the Biblical verses contained, but  the professor stopped Lopez, allegedly calling him a “fascist bastard.”

“The professor told the other students in the class, at that point, ‘If you are offended, go ahead and leave’–well, nobody left, so the professor dismissed the entire class and did not allow Jonathan to finish,” Hacker said.

Lopez didn’t receive a grade for his speech. Instead, Hacker said, the professor left the assignment sheet on the student’s backpack.

“On it was written, ‘Ask God what your grade is,’” Hacker said. The professor also allegedly wrote “Prostyelsyzsing (sic) is inappropriate in public school.”

Hacker said the lawsuit goes further than alleged censorship. One week after the classroom incident, Matteson also allegedly threatened to expel the student.

“When Mr. Lopez informed one of the deans of the college about what happened, and his desire for a grade, the professor saw him doing this, and came up to him afterward and said, ‘I’m going to get you expelled,’” Hacker said.

The lawsuit also alleges that just after California’s Proposition 8 passed on Nov. 4 limiting the definition of marriage to apply to couples made up of one man and one woman, the same professor allegedly said in class that, “If you voted for Prop. 8, you are a fascist bastard.”

The Los Angeles Community College system was closed for the President’s Day holiday, and attempts to contact Matteson were unsuccessful.

In a letter sent to ADF, LACC Dean Allison Jones wrote that the college considered the matter to be “extremely serious in nature,” according to the lawsuit, and had begun a disciplinary investigation. Jones also said in the letter that two students in the class had complained that they were “deeply offended” by Lopez’s speech–accusing Lopez of preaching “hate.”

Hacker said colleges should be bastions of free speech, not political correctness.

“Colleges should be giving Christians the same rights as other students on campus, especially when it comes to free speech,” Hacker said. “Public institutions of higher learning cannot selectively censor Christian speech.”

Robert Shibley, vice president of the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education, said said given the parameters, Lopez has every right to talk about his faith–and about marriage.

“Public universities and colleges like Los Angeles Community College don’t have the right to prevent people from speaking about their religious beliefs, Shibley said.

“In a classroom,” he added, “if religion is not the topic that you are supposed to be speaking on, obviously like any other topic they can insist that you speak on the things that they ask for. But in this case, our understanding is that they asked him to speak about any topic. There is no reason a state–or frankly, any other–university, private or public should be able to tell you that religious topics are off-limits.”

Lopez is asking for an injunction against the professor and the college’s speech code, which forbids students from making statements deemed offensive. He is also seeking “minor” financial damages, Hacker said.

Keep in mind that this student – who is paying this college for an education, and not for indoctrination in moral relativism and liberal political correctness – is giving a speech representing the view of over 52% of California voters (i.e. Prop 8).  This isn’t the viewpoint of some bizarre and morally warped religious cult or terrorist organization; it’s the attitude of a majority of Americans, and it’s the attitude that has frankly been embraced by this nation since its founding.

And this story follows closely behind another example of typical liberal fascist intolerance, as Ben Stein – who committed the thoughtcrime of revealing how intolerant academia has become – was disinvited from a speaking engagement in what amounted to an affirmation that everything he’d said about academic intolerance was absolutely true.

Please understand something.  Liberal “intellectuals” constantly, pompously, and self-righteously lecture us that they are protecting “education,”  “science,” and “tolerance.”  But their “tolerance” only extends to those who completely agree with them (which is another way of pointing out their blatant INtolerance), and their narrow focus demonstrates that they don’t much care about “education” or “science” either.  You see teachers and professors “courageously” standing up for the right to continue to force Darwinism down other people’s kid’s throats; do you ever hear them exhibit a similar passion to teach photosynthesis or Boyle’s Law to our kids?  The simple fact of the matter is that teaching “Darwinism” is all about teaching the religious ideology of atheism.  And if teachers and professors really cared about “education,” our kids wouldn’t be emerging from their teaching so damn stupid.

This Pelosi (and please notice I was polite enough not to say ‘Monkeycrap‘) goes on all the time.  It is unrelenting.  As I’ve pointed out before, liberals start pumping out their fascist propaganda on government-schooled children when they’re young, and then they just never stop:

We get this from our teachers:

We get “Heather Has Two Mommies” and “Jennifer Has Two Daddies” forced into our children’s minds.  And we get “sexual education” teaching our children sodomy and oral sex in order as an excuse to teach them to wear condoms.

And, so, surprise, surprise.  We get brainwashed children worshiping in the cult of Obama and far leftist political ideology.  All before they’re old enough to even have a chance in hell of being able to think for themselves.

The article I cite above features a couple of just plain creepy videos of children singing praises to their messiah Obama.  You can watch the glossy-eyed little robots and think back to how politically leftist YOU were at their age.

In an environment in which Democrat professors outnumber their Republican colleagues more than 10-1, the message is clear: to quote former General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union Nikita Khrushchev, if you are a conservative or present any kind of a pro-conservative message in America’s schools or colleges, “We will bury you!

As Paul Strand titles his article, we get “The New Radicals: How Liberal Campuses Harass Conservatives.”  And in “the no-speech culture,” “Anyone who still believes that free speech counts for something on our campuses should take a look at the University of California-Berkeley.”

As I write this, Barack Obama has said that he is “not interested” in bringing back the euphemistically-titled, “Fairness Doctrine.”  But that’s just this week.  Meanwhile, his party is moving fast and hard behind the scenes to specifically target the speech of conservatives as something that is dangerous and therefore needs to be “balanced” with the views of liberals.

But mind you that the White House’s chief of staff (Rahm Emanuel) and press secretary (Robert Gibbs), along with just about every single elected Democrat and liberal talking head, have personally targeted private citizen Rush Limbaugh and attacked him for exercising what is supposed to be his 1st Amendment rights.

Realize before reading the significant Democrat support for the “Fairness Doctrine” that it specifically targets talk radio, which conservatives have dominated in spite of liberal attempts at talk radio.  The Doctrine would NOT target ANY other media, which is dominated by liberals.

I’ve written about the fact that study after study has demonstrated that the media is dominated by liberals, and NOT conservatives.  You could take some time searching through article after article on my blog using “media” and “propaganda” as search terms to see how overwhelming the evidence for liberal media bias is.  In a pinch, one paragraph from a previous article should suffice:

The media has been so blatantly biased throughout its election coverage that it is completely accurate to say that we are now in a propaganda state.  There is no possible way that Republicans can win in this media climate: whether you look at the Media Research Center, or at the Project for Excellence in Journalism (or again at their brand new study), or at the University of Wisconsin’s Wisconsin Advertising Project, there is widespread agreement with one longtime ABC journalist that the media is dangerously biased.  Pew Research discovered that Americans believe by a 70% to 9% margin that the media is biased in favor of Obama and against McCain.  The media now represents a fifth column of government – a propaganda wing – that attacks conservatives and celebrates and defends Democrats and their ideology.  Democracy is going extinct in the country that founded democracy, because no free society can survive such a climate of propaganda.

The facts are overwhelmingly on the side of conservatives here. But facts don’t matter to fascists.  All that matters to them is power, and securing power over their rivals by any means necessary.

When asked if it was time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, Senator Debbie Stabenow said:

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

Stabenow is in the process of forcing hearings on “radio accountability,” and doesn’t regard the fact that her husband Tom Athans – the executive vice president of failed liberal radio program Air America – would directly benefit from her Fairness to Fascism Doctrine.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi – when she’s not in Italy lecturing the pope that Catholics should support abortion – has indicated that she personally supports the revival of the Fairness Doctrine “without hesitation.”

Representative Maurice Hinchey said on February 13:

“I think the Fairness Doctrine should be reinstated,” Hinchey told CNNRadio. Hinchey says he could make it part of a bill he plans to introduce later this year overhauling radio and t-v ownership laws.

Senator Dick Durbin has said:

“It’s time to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine,” said Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-Ill.). “I have this old-fashioned attitude that when Americans hear both sides of the story, they’re in a better position to make a decision.”

And then there’s Dianne Feinstein:

Senate Rules Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said she planned to “look at the legal and constitutional aspects of” reviving the Fairness Doctrine.

“I believe very strongly that the airwaves are public and people use these airwaves for profit,” she said. “But there is a responsibility to see that both sides and not just one side of the big public questions of debate of the day are aired and are aired with some modicum of fairness.”

Senator Charles Schumer has also recently weighed in:

Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) on Tuesday defended the so-called Fairness Doctrine in an interview on Fox News, saying, “I think we should all be fair and balanced, don’t you?”

And Bill Clinton has tossed his two cents in:

“Well, you either ought to have the Fairness Doctrine or we ought to have more balance on the other side,” Clinton said, “because essentially there’s always been a lot of big money to support the right wing talk shows and let face it, you know, Rush Limbaugh is fairly entertaining even when he is saying things that I think are ridiculous….”

Clinton said that there needs to be either “more bala

I saved the Clinton line for last because was accompanied with the lovely line by the evil conservative:

In a classic liberal hypocrisy, the Democrats who use words like “tolerance” and “civil liberties” are showing their true intolerant selves, and preparing to trample on our Bill of Rights. They are starting with the First Amendment.

It’s a warmer, fuzzier brand of fascism. With Oprah and Obama replacing Mussolini and Hitler. The same ideas hold sway, however. Scratch a liberal, find a fascist.

Since a picture is often worth a thousand words, let me offer the following picture, noting that it magnificently sums up the Democrats’ attitude and philosophy:
