Try To Get Your Mind Around It: Your President As God

Every time I hear Barack Obama speak, I find myself insulted.  Invariably, he assumes a vantage point that is above the rest of us.  He stands above us, transcending our petty little disagreements and our petty little religions and our petty little worldviews.  He knows all points of view, and he himself is the objective One, the arbiter of all things, the divider of all truths, who alone sees without partisanship or self-interest.

I first began to become aware of this only four days into the Obama presidency. When he said, “What is required is a new declaration of independence, not just in our nation, but in our own lives — from ideology and small thinking, prejudice and bigotry.”  When he said on the issue of abortion, “For too long, international family planning assistance has been used as a political wedge issue, the subject of a back and forth debate that has served only to divide us.  I have no desire to continue this stale and fruitless debate.”  He assumed this lofty, godlike stance even as he imposed an all-too human and partisan policy.  There is a constant arrogant transcendence about Barack Obama, as a man who truly believes he occupies a place above puny humanity.

It is terrifying to me that he would so routinely present himself in this way.  But it is far more terrifying to realize that he thinks of himself in this way.

I now see that I’m not alone in seeing this disturbing self-image from President Obama:

MATTHEWS: Evan Thomas is editor at large for Newsweek magazine. Evan, you remember ’84. It wasn’t 100 years ago. Reagan and World War II and the sense of us as the good guys in the world, how are we doing?EVAN THOMAS: Well, we were the good guys in 1984, it felt that way. It hasn’t felt that way in recent years. So Obama’s had, really, a different task We’re seen too often as the bad guys.  And he – he has a very different job from – Reagan was all about America, and you talked about it. Obama is ‘we are above that now.’  We’re not just parochial, we’re not just chauvinistic, we’re not just provincial. We stand for something – I mean in a way Obama’s standing above the country, above – above the world, he’s sort of God. He’s-

Obama’s standing above the country, above the world, he’s sort of God.”

Let us put aside the not-insignificant fact that the only reason men like Evan Thomas and Chris Matthews quit thinking of America as the land of “the good guys” is because THEY were the ones who systematically demonized her at every single turn.  And do they truly think America is better now just because Barack Obama is her president? Isn’t that frightening?

I see that “Yeah” from Chris Matthews and I think, “Amen, brother!  Amen!  Praise him!  Praise him!

When Chris Matthews contemplates his deity, he gets a thrill up his leg.

We used to hear the phrase “speaking in tongues” and thought it referred to Pentecostals.  Now we should immediately see Barack Obama’s addressing us without his teleprompter.

Amen, Lord Obama!  Amen!  Preach to us in the language of angels!

(No offense to Pentecostals; YOUR tongues are far more lovely to my ears than any incoherent gibberish that comes out of the mouth of Barack Obama when he’s bereft of TOTUS).

I mock this “Obama as God” complex because I despise everything it stands for.  But it is no laughing matter.

We’ve come across repeated motifs of Barack Obama as “messiah” – and that is no coincidence to those who believe in the last days and hearkened to Jesus’ warning that false Christs and false prophets shall rise (Mark 13:22).  What may have began as arrogance just kept getting creepier and creepier.  Obama morphed from a Kennedy-wannabe to a Christ-wannabe.  It got creepier yet as glassy-eyed schoolgirls sang hymns of praise, such as “We’re gonna spread happiness! We’re gonna spread freeeeedom! Obama’s gonna change it, Obama’s gonna lead ‘em…”  And then it went from creepy creepy to dangerous creepy as his legions of “disciples” began to don camoflauge and shout mindless slogans in mechanistic unison.

Believers know that one day, one day very soon, the REAL Antichrist will come:

“they worshiped the dragon because he gave his authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who is able to wage war with him?” […]

All who dwell on the earth will worship him, everyone whose name has not been written from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who has been slain. […]

And he causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.  Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six.” (Revelation 13:4,8,16-18).

Christians have known for nearly 2,000 years that a one-world dictator was coming in a time of unparalleled military and economic crisis to forge a one-world government.  And Jews who rightly understood the book of Daniel have known this for even longer.

Am I claiming that Barack Obama is the Antichrist?  No.  I don’t believe he is.  But I do believe that Barack Obama may very well leave America and the world in such a shambles that the Antichrist will be allowed to emerge on his white horse (Revelation 6:2) to save the day.  The world will be in a terrifying crisis when he comes, with war (6:4) and economic depression (6:6) resulting in the death of some two billion people (6:8).  And when Antichrist appears to save the day, the whole world will worship him – until he leads them into a literal hell on earth.

And I also believe that we are only one serious crisis – be it military or economic – from seeing what true creepiness looks like in our current president.

The beast is coming.

Now, some may mock my beliefs the way I mock Obama as God.  I’m fine with that, both because I have a confidence in what I believe that isn’t jeopardzed by what others think about either it or me, and because I am seeing more and more confirmation in even the “craziest parts of the Bible” all the time.

“On an appointed day Herod, having put on his royal apparel, took his seat on the rostrum and began delivering an address to them. The people kept crying out, “The voice of a god and not a man!”
And immediately an angel of the Lord struck him because he did not give God the glory, and he was eaten by worms and died.”
    Acts 12:21-23 NASB

  2. Michael Eden Says:

No one would be happier than me if Obama were giving us one of his teleprompter-directed sermons when he was suddenly stricken with Herod’s fate.

We just have to keep trusting that God is a just God, and Obama WILL ultimately receive his just reward.
