Al Qaeda Smelling The Weakness In Obama’s America

For years the narrative of liberalism has been that continuing to fight in Iraq would embolden terrorists and that only by reversing Bush-era policies could terrorism be abated. But as we speak, Bush is out of office; Guantanamo Bay prison is on its way to being closed; fighting has nearly ceased in Iraq and American troops are being pulled out; and Obama genuflected to the Muslim world in his Cairo speech.

Heck, we no longer even HAVE a “war on terror.”  Just an “Overseas contingency operation.”  And we no longer have any issues with “terrorism,” just “man-caused disasters.”

So everything’s well with the terrorist world now, right?

Not quite.

In the space of less than a month, five Islamic terrorist plots to attack the United States have been revealed.

There was the case of Najibullah Zazi and his al Qaeda-linked cell. These alleged terrorists were caught in the act of planning attacks on the New York City subway along with other targets. And even though Zazi himself is in custody, his cell may yet be seeking to attack.

Then there was the Jordanian man arrested after attempting to detonate what he believed was a car bomb in downtown Dallas – which he had placed in the base of a 60-story office building.

And we have credible reports of suspicious men possibly casing a Philadelphia subway.  This story is not over, as the men escaped and continue to remain at large.

And two of the seven terrorist suspects arrested for trying to go overseas to help fight a jihad against the United States were also attempting to launch an attack in Virginia. They were planning to attack a Marine base, and they meant business:

RALEIGH, North Carolina (Reuters) – Two men charged in North Carolina last month with plotting terrorist attacks overseas also planned to attack the U.S. Marine Corps base in Quantico, Virginia, authorities said on Thursday.

The two were among seven suspects arrested in August for conspiring to provide material support to terrorists and for conspiracy to murder, kidnap, maim and injure people overseas. [Snip]

It offered no details, except to say that Boyd had undertaken reconnaissance of Quantico and obtained maps of the base in order to plan the attack.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Boyd also possessed armor piercing ammunition, and had stated that it was “to attack the Americans.”

Finally, we have a man held in custody for attempting to blow up a federal building in Chicago. The man was an American convert to Islam and would have launched an imminent attack:

He was introduced to an undercover FBI agent who began working with him to plot an attack, but Finton was repeatedly told he could walk away at any time, according to the Justice Department.

Eventually, Finton picked the federal building in Springfield as the target and on Wednesday he parked a van he believed carried one ton of explosives at the location, the complaint said.

So not one, but five separate attempts to murder Americans in the United States have been uncovered in short succession.  If terrorists really believed that the United States under Obama was less threatening or evil under the benevolent Barack Obama, why would they be planning all these new massacres?

9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed – who sang like a bird after being waterboarded – said after his capture that the American response under President Bush was so massive and so effective that he doubted if Al-Qaeda would ever dare attack America again.

Something has changed.

Terrorists sense a lack of American resolve.  We elected a man to the presidency who repeatedly proclaimed the war in Iraq as an immoral mistake for which he has since repeatedly apologized.  And even as we speak this same president is actually considering ignoring the general that he personally selected to implement his own strategy in Afghanistan is now considering abandoning that strategy – and Afghanistan right along with it.

Al-Qaeda smells blood in the water.

While President Obama apologizes for American offenses, the terrorists are growing bolder and more confident.  As Obama abandons American commitments to allies such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, and Israel, our terrorist enemies know that we are growing weaker.

And at the rate we’re going, it is only a matter of time before a successful Al-Qaeda attack results in American blood flowing in the streets of our own soil yet again.
