Rasmussen as of March 15 found that:
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 43% favor the health care plan proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats, while 53% oppose it. Those findings include 23% who Strongly Favor the plan and 46% who Strongly Oppose it.
The numbers are virtually unchanged from last week and are consistent with findings in regularly tracking going back to just after Thanksgiving.
Democrats continue to overwhelmingly support the plan, while Republicans and voters not affiliated with either party strongly oppose it.
Opposition continues to stem in part from unchanging views that the plan will drive up the cost and worsen the quality of health care in America. Fifty-seven percent (57%) of voters also believe the health care reform plan now working its way through Congress will hurt the U.S. economy.
But Barack Obama and the Democrats are tyrants, not leaders. They want to rule, not govern. They want to impose a system that will result in a European socialist-style government until our country implodes from massive and unsustainable deficits and debts.
Thirty-eight states (that’s 76% of the states in this country) are already at work on legislation that will preempt ObamaCare from destroying their economy and their way of life.
If this Jason Voorhees monstrosity passes, it will be the beginning. The Republicans and the states will fight this for YEARS to come. Nothing else will get done, and this country will drift, as we fight an evil that should never have been imposed on a people who overwhelmingly do not want it.
From the Washington Post:
BOISE, Idaho — Idaho is leading the charge in a states-rights push to defeat a proposal in Congress that would require people to buy health insurance, a key piece of reforms being pushed by President Barack Obama.
Republican Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter used a ceremony Wednesday afternoon to become the first governor to sign into law a measure requiring the state attorney general to sue the federal government over any such insurance mandates.
There’s similar legislation pending in 37 other states, a point Otter stressed when asked if the bill he signed can succeed, given constitutional law experts are already saying federal laws would supersede those of states in a U.S. District Court fight.
“The ivory tower folks will tell you, ‘No, they’re not going anywhere,'” he told reporters. “But I’ll tell you what, you get 36 states, that’s a critical mass. That’s a constitutional mass.”
The state measures working their ways through statehouses from Missouri to South Carolina reflect a growing frustration with President Obama’s health care overhaul, especially in Republican-dominated regions.
It most certainly is not just “Republican-dominated regions.” Here’s a list of the states that have filed measures to protect their citizens:
According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, formal resolutions or bills have been filed in opposition to the individual mandate in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
And here’s the Obama/Democrat steamroller that the states are trying to protect their residents and their economy:
At least 36 state legislatures are considering legislation that would allow citizens to opt out of a key component of President Obama’s health-care “reform” – an “individual mandate” requiring that all Americans have health insurance.
Both the House and Senate health-care bills require Americans to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty. The House bill establishes a fine based on percentage of a person’s income, while the Senate version creates a penalty as a flat fee or percentage of income, whichever is higher. Those refusing to get insurance could be found guilty of a misdemeanor crime, punishable by another fine or even jail time.
The reason for the different numbers of states (36, 37, 38) is that they keep growing.
The Fuhrer wants to confiscate your property to pay for his boondoggle. And if you don’t pay you’ll end up in jail.
For every one family receiving a subsidy to pay for ObamaCare, three families earning less than $200,000 a year will be forced to pay more for their health care. And at least a quarter of Americans will see their taxes RISE as a result of ObamaCare.
We are looking at a disaster of such colossal proportions it is simply stunning. One staggering fact should put that disaster into perspective. In a study published in the New England Journal of Medicine, Medicus discovered this grim reality:
What if nearly HALF of all physicians in America suddenly stopped practicing medicine? Such a drastic decrease in the physician workforce could become a reality, depending upon how the healthcare reform legislation is implemented, and which version of health reform passes into law.
In a physician survey conducted December 2009 by The Medicus Firm, a national physician search firm, 24.7% of physicians stated that they would “retire early” if a public option is implemented, and an additional 21.0% of respondents stated that they would quit practicing medicine, even though they are nowhere near retirement. This brings the amount of physicians who would leave medicine to a total of 45.7%.
And of course, even as Obama talks about how “deficit neutral” his plan will be, the reality is anything but. It’s going to massively increases taxes, and it will slash half a trillion dollars out of Medicare – a system already on the verge of collapse as it is. And it will push all kinds of costs onto the states in the form of higher Medicaid costs that will increase by billions – and become progressively worse as the federal government increasingly decreases its reimbursement share to the states.
Democrats cite the CBO number – “only” $940 billion over 10 years (which is achieved primarily by taxing for ten years, but only paying out benefits for six years) – but consider that the CBO has something dramatically less than stunning accuracy in making such projections. As one example, they’ve been off by as much as 113% in estimating the costs of Medicare programs.
Going back to our most significant and most directly applicable program to ObamaCare – Medicare – the government underestimated the costs by a whopping factor of 10.
We are looking at fiscal implosion as it is. Just imagine if all the hundreds of assumptions fall apart and the costs of ObamaCare begins to soar as many believe it inevitably will.
From the Cato Instutue:
When we correct for both gimmicks, counting both on- and off-budget costs over the first 10 years of implementation, the total cost of ObamaCare reaches — I’m so sorry about this — $6.25 trillion. That’s not a precise estimate. It’s just far closer to the truth than President Obama and congressional Democrats want the debate to be.
Are you willing to bet your life, your families’ lives, and the life of your nation on ObamaCare?
At least 38 states aren’t.
38 divided by 50 = .76.
It appears that the Spirit of ’76 has finally been resurrected as a response to tyranny.

Wow, 45% of doctors leaving the profession if it goes through! That’s a scary figure. Can’t say I blame them, I’d probably be discouraged too.

Democrats have become Marxists. And profit is anathema to a Marxist.
So they demonize anyone who wants to earn a living (expect unions and their own interest groups, of course – remember that these people are total hypocrites) and strip the ability to earn a living being a doctor or an insurance company.
And they think that’s going to work, because they have a depraved worldview that prevents them from having any possible chance to understand the world as it really is.

I wanted to put my finger on the states and your site was right there. Like the other research too. Keep up the fight. Thanks for your helpfulness.

And if you clicked on one of the links, Terry, you’ll see a map of the states that are working on protecting themselves from ObamaCare.
I like to supply references to every fact that I thin the other side in an argument would likely dispute. I’m always glad when someone looking for the evidence or support for the evidence appreciates that extra step.
Thanks for your encouragement.

Another fact about doctor’s earnings…….call me selfish, but I don’t want the dentist filling my cavity to make the same as the doctor operating on my husband’s heart………

No matter what your feelings on this type of Bill, healthcare or otherwise…it steps all over the US Constitution. This angers me to the core.
March 22, 2010 at 4:39 am
Sadly, JJ, doctors will soon become bureaucrats working for the government. And they will increasingly be less trained, less motivated, lower paid people – the scum of which will rise to the top like in any other bureaucracy.
Nearly a third of doctors are now considering packing their bags and leaving, according to a survey published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

D. Kasmauskas,
I’ve never been more angry at the government, either.
The most unconstitutional thing of all, of course, is these individual mandates that will FORCE Americans to purchase insurance from insurance companies. The CBO score didn’t even touch this: since the Democrats didn’t consider it a tax, and since the government wasn’t spending the money, you being forced to buy insurance from private insurance companies simply didn’t get counted at all.
The real ten year cost of this bill will be well over SIX TRILLION DOLLARS.
March 22, 2010 at 7:49 am
can we file a class action law suit against this Forced bill ?
First Obama tried to have the bill FORCE employer’s to pay health ins. for employee’s. Offering Health ins. was a Benefit offered by employer , not because they were obligated to .
Obama’s bill now says that if an employer of larger company does not offer health ins, then they will be penalized ( fined) . Nobody has any right under the consitution to Force another person who owns a private buisness to pay for another persons health ins. ,if they cant or dont want to offer health ins. . Buisnesses already pay workmans comp. , unemployment , social security etc.
An employee has a choice , they can work there or they can go find a company that does offer health ins. , many buisnesses big and small are suffering from this economy and a stimulus package that did not work !
Now Obama wants to penalize them ? Under what right ? because OBAMA feels they are greedy ? Feels he can punish another for success ? What about the employer who paid tons of money to go to school, or just lucked out by working hard for years to open a buisness, Obama is going to punish them ? Or the employer who has 3 or 4 kids that he has to pay for his childrens college education , while others get it FREE ” .
Obama says he will offer a tax credit , to the buisnesses that OFFER health ins. Yet the taxes are raised in other area’s . So what is the savings? Obama has No right to but into any persons legit. private buisness . Also if an employee does not offer health ins. , then employee must have their own health ins. and if employee is caought by the health czar not having private ins. of their own , then the employer is fined thousnads of dollars per employee who is caught with no ins. ? Again Punish ! How is an employer to know if an employee canceled his/her ins. policy during employment ?
Who will be working ?
Oh and lets not forget that your kids can stay on your ins. policy till age 26 , but what happens when you no longer have that job that offers health ins. ? Then obama says you will not lose your healthcare , but he never said that you would not lose your employers health care ” play on words , meaning of course you wont lose your healthcare because you are required to have health ins. You buy it or apply for the Obama goverment ins. But make sure you bring all your w-2s as they go buy what your income is
Now Obama wants to hire 18,000 new employee’s fo rthe IRS to police people and make sure they are fined ,if they do not have health ins. ? Who will those new employee’s head czar be ? Van jones ? Jennings? Or someother friend of obama with a shady background ?
Will the 18,000 new IRS employee’s be the old ACORN employees’ ? Obama and his staff who he allows to call people astro turf natzi’s without any punishment ” . Never before has a U.S. president Mocked over half of america as Barack Obama does .
Obama claims that republicans do not want health reform ? We all want lower ins. But not this way ! Obama thinks it is just republicans , I guess he forgot Scott Browm winning a Dem state . Obama and his back door deals , no tranasparency . Last minute deals , making sure the bill was to be passed before the srtoke of midnight on the anniversary of the March on Selma “. Obama did not care what had to be done with stupak or anything else just as long as he got his historical status “on that date .
We are not Europe Mr. Obama . We stand out because of our freedoms , that you are trying to take away . The more control the goverment has over the people , the more they will restrict . and control what we do .
You can not legislate the poor into prosperity , by legislating the wealth out of prosperity , The goverment can not give to anyone , what they did not take from someone else . When half the people get the idea that they do not have to work ,because someone else will take care of them , and when the other half of the people get the idea , that it just does no good to work , because someone else will get what they worked hard for , Then that my Dear , it the begining of the end of any nation . You can not multiply wealth , by dividing

Wow.
What an excellent takedown of this unconstitutional and immoral bill.
A “right” is not a right when someone else has to suffer to provide it. It becomes evil for the government to say that person A has to suffer loss in order to provide for person B, because somehow person B has a “right.”
I have a right to free speech. But my right to free speech should not cost anyone else so much as a dime, and nobody should be forced to listen to me. The Obama treats it, I have a right to free speech, so you have to provide me with my own television statement, and everyone should spend X hours a week listening to me, or pay a fine.
It’s fundamentally unAmerican. And it is evil masquerading as good.
Thanks for your post, lostsoulgirl. I’ll likely use some of the ideas and details in further articles.

We have arrived. The truth is staring us in the face. Government controlled behavior and an end to individual freedom.
I would like to point out a few things to consider in regard to the Constitutional crisis created by Obamacare that have not been discussed up to this point.
What will the government response be when the shortage of health care providers occurs and an onslaught of delayed treatment and rationing begins? This is the rationed and degraded healthcare delivery that many of the miss-guided Democrats who voted for the bill are in open denial of. The answer is strict and oppressive government control in forms not imagined by most Americans at this juncture. I will elaborate on this assessment in a moment.
What can go wrong with Obamacare? The penalties for not complying start out far too small. This mistake, in what is otherwise corrupt and unconstitutional legislation will provide an incentive for patients and providers to just work outside of Obamacare and government controlled insurance plans. Many physicians will choose to simply provide treatment directly for cash or a payment plan agreed upon with their patients. Who knows, they may even take up the practice of house calls to avoid government scrutiny. What will prevent doctors from establishing clinics and doctor owned hospitals that do not accept government mandated insurance or otherwise adhere to Obamacare mandates?
I haven’t heard any discussion of this aspect, but I bet there is already language and enforcement capability in this sweeping, comprehensive healthcare bill that the government will use to squash any such rebellion by doctors and patients. Furthermore, is there any doubt that Obama and his leftist cronies would hesitate a moment to use the threat of no federal funding of any kind for rebellious states as a means to quell the state rebellion now developing? The Supreme Court will be intimidated into ruling in favor of Obamacare to save the country from the threat of riots and chaos. Harassment by government bureaucrats (there will tens of thousands under Obamacare) by any means at their disposal will be employed to ensure every American zips their lips and steps in line with the mandate.
An embarrassing shortage of doctors? No problem. Government now controls the student loans and national education system. Students will simply be “incentivized” to decide to work their entire lives in the nationalized healthcare system. Too many doctors retiring early? No problem. IRS tax rules can be changed to penalize early retirements of desperately needed physicians thus “incentivizing” them to work just a few years longer. Medical providers and patients trying to subvert the system by working outside of Obamacare? No problem. Add another few thousand IRS agents and go after these radicals who won’t conform to the government plan. Government controls pharma and medical device/equipment industry so just take away the ability of these wayward doctors and patients from obtaining medicine, medical devices and access to surgical supplies/equipment.
Get the picture? This is their long-term plan whether we recognize it now or not.
There is only one problem with this unprecedented leftist grab for power. The US economy and financial system will totally collapse before we get to the scenario described above. At that juncture, healthcare for all Americans will be the LEAST of our worries. How can this be you ask?
Simple. Look at what happened when liberals instituted and enforced the policy of “every American deserves to own their own home”. That was the single most responsible root cause of the devastating financial crisis from which we have still not recovered (along with greed for money and power). Now add the policy that everybody deserves and will get the finest healthcare. The crushing deficit spending and ever expanding taxation that will be required to support this colossal entitlement program, along with the others that are already bankrupt, is unprecedented in American or world history. We are essentially bankrupt now (along with many other countries and economies in the world). Make no mistake, if we allow the yoke of this evil transformational change to descend upon this country any further, a total financial collapse is inevitable and will result. Anyone heard of hyperinflation? Martial law? The audacity of this leftist progressive Ponzi scheme makes Madoff look like simple juvenile shoplifting in comparison.
These kinds of insidious freedom crushing policies absolutely destroy individual and business initiative to achieve. You can cut the gloomy vapor of uncertainty for a healthy and prosperous business environment that is descending upon the United States with a knife. Unemployment will continue to grow as more Americans slip into despair and dependency upon the government for support. Is there any question as to what will happen to our nation’s energy capability if Obama has his way with ill-conceived ultra-left progressive policies? What will cap and trade do to American industry and our economy? Why is America being forced to compete globally with both hands tied behind our backs with a ball and chain at our ankle? Why?
Obama and leftist progressives are determined to drive the silver stake through the heart America’s greatness, of our Constitution, individual liberty and the free enterprise, capitalist system which our Founding Father’s spilt their precious blood to bestow upon this great nation. They are smart, we are stupid. They will not rest until they have absolute control of every aspect of our lives and achieve their long sought utopian world-wide egalitarianism. We will not survive this forced march to “yellow socialism”. Google yellow socialism for an explanation of this term.
Unless Americans wake up and throw off this oppressive regime, we are finished. Most Americans are generous and filled with goodness and the desire to voluntarily help those in need. When we are forced to do this by evil leaders and politicians, there will be a sore price to pay.
The next two elections are absolutely critical to America’s survival and future.
If we come to our senses, God may decide to once again bless America.

A correction to my previous use of the term “yellow socialism” above.
The correct term is “lemon socialism”. Google this term to see an explanation of what is happening to our country.
March 24, 2010 at 1:01 pm
Thanks for all that information, Dave.
You’ve got a lot of good points.
ObamaCare WILL lead to rationing, and that rationing WILL lead to still more government control.
ObamaCare WILL push most of the people (16 million out of the alleged 30 million it gives “access”) into Medicaid. And Medicare is a) severely unfunded and b) utterly inferior.
ObamaCare IS an example of the worst of the policies (such as the Community Reinvestment Act) that created the 2008 financial crisis. These stupid programs – no matter how well-intentioned – will cripple the nation.
Our founding fathers sought a limited federal government in order to preserve American liberty and freedom. Obama wants to “fundamentally transform” that.
March 24, 2010 at 1:10 pm
As a short amen to that, let me point out that this is nothing new. FDR had all kinds of “lemon socialism” boondoggles in the New Deal. The whole “too big to fail” mindset is fundamentally anti-free market.
Fascism is a system of government which sought government control indirectly through domination of nominally private owners. It required owners to use their property in the “national interest.” Fascism leaves the appearance of market relations while planning all economic activities.
What we’re primarily seeing from Obama is a primarily fascistic form of socialism. Which (if you read Liberal Fascism by Jonah Goldberg you’ll know) is basically what FDR was working toward.
The term “moral hazard” is better, because it gets to the heart of the issue. We keep rewarding privileged classes (and frankly, we privilege classes defined as “underprivileged”) and reward dangerous and irresponsible behavior on the backs of the people who play straight and by the rules.
