Obama Deals With Press In A Very – Dare I Say It – MARXIST Way

Soviet-era Moscow.  Now those were the days.

I’d thought I’d missed out on them, being an American and all.

You see, I read 1984, and that Orwellian world just seemed like such a blast.  Living the good life of a collectivist society.  Having Big Brother watching over me constantly.  Changing the facts to suit whatever “truth” the government needed next.  I mean, who wouldn’t want that kind of Utopia?

I didn’t think I’d ever get my chance to be an outer party member working at the Ministry of Truth.

But then we voted for Obama and his “fundamental transformation” of America.  And happy days are here again.  I’m so excited: soon I’ll get to stand in communist proletariat peasant breadlines, just as I always wanted.

Uber-leftist Newsweek joyfully trumpeted that “We Are All Socialists Now” after Obama fearmongered his porkulus boondoggle through Congress.  And the formerly Soviet propaganda machine Pravda laughed their heads off about America burying Soviet Marxism, only to now throw ourselves into the same bottomless pit.

Most mainstream media journalists – as much as they love socialism – hate the word if it is applied to Barack Obama.  So the following article is rather hilarious, in that ironic sort of way.

Obama’s disregard for media reaches new heights at nuclear summit

World leaders arriving in Washington for President Obama’s Nuclear Security Summit must have felt for a moment that they had instead been transported to Soviet-era Moscow.

They entered a capital that had become a military encampment, with camo-wearing military police in Humvees and enough Army vehicles to make it look like a May Day parade on New York Avenue, where a bicyclist was killed Monday by a National Guard truck.

In the middle of it all was Obama — occupant of an office once informally known as “leader of the free world” — putting on a clinic for some of the world’s greatest dictators in how to circumvent a free press.

The only part of the summit, other than a post-meeting news conference, that was visible to the public was Obama’s eight-minute opening statement, which ended with the words: “I’m going to ask that we take a few moments to allow the press to exit before our first session.”

Reporters for foreign outlets, admitted for the first time to the White House press pool, got the impression that the vaunted American freedoms are not all they’re cracked up to be.

Yasmeen Alamiri from the Saudi Press Agency got this lesson in press freedom when trying to cover Obama’s opening remarks as part of a limited press “pool”: “The foreign reporters/cameramen were escorted out in under two minutes, just as the leaders were about to begin, and Obama was going to make remarks. . . . Sorry, it is what it is.”

Alamiri’s counterparts from around the world wrote of similar experiences in their pool reports. Arabic-language MBC TV’s Nadia Bilbassy had this to say of Obama’s meeting with the Jordanian king: “We were there for around 30 seconds, not enough even to notice the color of tie of both presidents. I think blue for the king.”

The Press Trust of India, at Obama’s meeting with the Pakistani prime minister, reported, “In less than a minute, the pool was asked to leave.” The Yomiuri Shimbun correspondent found that she was “ushered out about 30 seconds” after arriving for Obama’s meeting with the Malaysian prime minister. A reporter with Turkey’s TRT-Turk went to Obama’s meeting with the president of Armenia, but “we had to leave the room again after less than 40 seconds.”

Even the Chinese president, Hu Jintao, was more talkative with the press than Obama. Michelle Jamrisko, with Japan’s Kyodo News, noted in her pool report that Hu, at his session with Obama, spoke to the Chinese media in Chinese, while Obama limited himself mostly to “say hello to the cameras” and “thank you everybody.”

Obama’s official schedule for Tuesday would have pleased China’s Central Committee. Excerpts: “The President will attend the Heads of Delegation working lunch. This lunch is closed press. . . . The President will meet with Prime Minster Erdogan of Turkey. This meeting is closed press. . . . The President will attend Plenary Session II of the Nuclear Security Summit. This session is closed press.”

Reporters, even those on the White House beat for two decades, said it was the most restricted set of such meetings they had ever seen. They complained to both the administration and White House Correspondents’ Association, which will discuss the matter Thursday with White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.

The restrictions have become a common practice for the Obama White House. When Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu came to the White House a couple of weeks ago, reporters were kept away. Soon after that, Obama signed an executive order on abortion, again without any coverage.

Over the weekend, Obama broke with years of protocol and slipped off to a soccer game without the “protective” pool that is always in the vicinity of the president in case the unthinkable occurs. Obama joked about it later to Pakistan’s prime minister, saying reporters “were very upset.”

In “bilateral” meetings with foreign leaders, presidents usually take questions, or at least trade statements. But at most of Obama’s, there were only written “readouts.” Canada: “The president and the prime minister noted the enduring strength of our bilateral partnership.” India: “The two leaders vowed to continue to strengthen the robust relationship between the people of their countries.” Pakistan: “President Obama began by noting that he is very fond of Pakistan.”

Finally, away from other leaders, Obama took reporters’ questions for 20 minutes. They were tough and skeptical questions that punctured the banal readouts: pointing out that the nonproliferation agreements weren’t binding, noting China’s equivocation on sanctions against Iran, and pressing Obama on the failure to curb North Korea’s weapons. The Post’s Scott Wilson asked Obama if he would call on Israel, which skipped the summit, to declare its nuclear weapons.

“I’m not going to comment on their program,” Obama said.

Not surprising. But it’s still important that the questions are asked.

The journalists at formerly communist mouthpiece Pravda are laughing even more hysterically now.

Are the reporters who get shivers up their legs whenever Obama speaks, who think Obama is like God, now in a snit?

Some of the reporters actually REPORTED the fact that Obama’s stupid summit – for all its ostentatious ballyhoo, was actually nothing more than a vacuous photo op for Obama to better present himself as “leader of the free world” while his poll numbers here in tiny little America plunge down the drain.

Some journalists bitterly realize that Obama has left them in the dust in order to take total control of his own message.  But most others, like the woman who believes her husband when he says, “Are you going to believe me, or are you going to trust your lying eyes?” when she catches him in bed with another woman, will stay faithful to Obama.

Let’s face it.  Even leftist sources such as the Daily Beast are pointing out that Obama has made a free press watchdog largely obsolescent.  And it serves them right.  The mainstream media are incredibly leftist-leaning, but not leftist enough for Obama.  Like other leftist dictators, Obama wants to have absolute control of his message.

The White House press corps are doing the Fuhrer’s bidding anyway, and reporting as “news” whatever the White House says.  So the White House rightly figures why not just cut out the middleman and go direct with their spin?

Like most other useful idiots, the useful media idiots who got Obama elected at the cost of their credibility are now basically irrelevant.  So let the layoffs begin.

Do you think Obama wore his costume to the summit?

There’s all this blowback coming from the left (who love socialism and actively pursue it) whenever the label “socialist” is applied to Obama.  But, come ON.  The man nationalized our auto industry, our banks, and our mortgage industry.  He’s literally out regulating the pay of private sector businessmen in a rather flagrant disregard for the Constitution.  And more recently, our health care system and our student loan system have just been effectively nationalized, too.

Dare I remind you that Fidel Castro himself endorsed ObamaCare and called it “a miracle.”

Now it appears that Obama is working toward raising the top marginal income tax rate to 77 percent.  From the Washington Post:

A study we conducted at the Tax Policy Center found that Washington would have to raise taxes by almost 40 percent to reduce — not eliminate, just reduce — the deficit to 3 percent of our GDP, the 2015 goal the Obama administration set in its 2011 budget. That tax boost would mean the lowest income tax rate would jump from 10 to nearly 14 percent, and the top rate from 35 to 48 percent. What if we raised taxes only on families with couples making more than $250,000 a year and on individuals making more than $200,000? The top two income tax rates would have to more than double, with the top rate hitting almost 77 percent, to get the deficit down to 3 percent of GDP. Such dramatic tax increases are politically untenable and still wouldn’t come close to eliminating the deficit.

The man is a socialist.  Socialism oozes out of every poor of his body.  He’s trying to impose big government socialism onto the country every bit as rapidly as Joseph Stalin would have had he been elected to sit in the White House.  Every chance Obama gets, he increases the size and power of government as much as he possibly can.

That’s true of everything else.  It’s true of the media, too.

As the dinosaur media – which made itself extinct by forfeiting their credibility as mouthpieces of the political left – actually go out of business, the president who gave us government motors will be able to give us government media.

And then he’ll have the absolute control over his media message that he’s always dreamed of.

Hopefully he’ll be the last, too.
