Obama Gives Company $529 Million To Build Cars – In FINLAND. And It Gets BETTER; This Is Another Solyndra!

American jobs suck and the United States should be funding union jobs that benefit “the world” rather than helping the American people.  And throwing away half a billion dollars in American taxpayer money to fund green jobs boondoggles on the other side of the Atlantic is perfectly fine.

That’s not my opinion; that’s Barack Obama’s opinion, according to ABC News:

Car Company Gets U.S. Loan, Builds Cars In Finland
In Billion-Dollar Gamble on Tesla and Fisker, Some Worry About A Second Solyndra

With the approval of the Obama administration, an electric car company that received a $529 million federal government loan guarantee is assembling its first line of cars in Finland, saying it could not find a facility in the United States capable of doing the work.

Vice President Joseph Biden heralded the Energy Department’s $529 million loan to the start-up electric car company called Fisker as a bright new path to thousands of American manufacturing jobs. But two years after the loan was announced, the job of assembling the flashy electric Fisker Karma sports car has been outsourced to Finland.

“There was no contract manufacturer in the U.S. that could actually produce our vehicle,” the car company’s founder and namesake told ABC News. “They don’t exist here.”

Henrik Fisker said the U.S. money so far has been spent on engineering and design work that stayed in the U.S., not on the 500 manufacturing jobs that went to a rural Finnish firm, Valmet Automotive.

“We’re not in the business of failing; we’re in the business of winning. So we make the right decision for the business,” Fisker said. “That’s why we went to Finland.”

The loan to Fisker is part of a $1 billion bet the Energy Department has made in two politically connected California-based electric carmakers producing sporty — and pricey — cutting-edge autos. Fisker Automotive, backed by a powerhouse venture capital firm whose partners include former Vice President Al Gore, predicts it will eventually be churning out tens of thousands of electric sports sedans at the shuttered GM factory it bought in Delaware. And Tesla Motors, whose prime backers include PayPal mogul Elon Musk and Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, says it will do the same in a massive facility tooling up in Silicon Valley.

For more on the Fisker and Tesla loans and the Obama administration’s green auto loan program, watch “Good Morning America,” “World News with Diane Sawyer,” and “Nightline.”

An investigation by ABC News and the Center for Public Integrity’s iWatch News that will air on “Good Morning America” found that the DOE’s bet carries risks for taxpayers, has raised concern among industry observers and government auditors, and adds to questions about the way billions of dollars in loans for smart cars and green energy companies have been awarded. Fisker is more than a year behind rolling out its $97,000 luxury vehicle bankrolled in part with DOE money. While more are promised soon, just 40 of its Karma cars (below) have been manufactured and only two delivered to customers’ driveways, including one to movie star Leonardo DiCaprio. Tesla’s SEC filings reveal the start-up has lost money every quarter. And while its federal funding is intended to help it mass produce a new $57,400 Model S sedan, the company has no experience in a project so vast.

There is intense scrutiny of the decisions made by the Department of Energy as it invests billions of taxpayer dollars in alternative energy. The questions come in the wake of the administration’s failed $535 million investment in solar panel maker Solyndra. The company’s collapse, bankruptcy and raid by FBI agents generated a litany of questions about how the Energy Department doles out billions in highly sought after green energy seed money.

A key question, experts and investigators say, is whether another Solyndra is in the offing.

Of COURSE this is a great bet: just look at how great things have gone for the Chevrolet Volt!!!

Wait, what’s that you say?  The Government Motors Volt is a complete fiasco?  But… but Obama just said that all the choices he made were the right ones, like his choice to piss away $535 million of the American people’s money even after being warned that it was a stupid move.

Because if you don’t agree with Obama blowing billions of dollars on green energy boondoggles whether here or overseas, you’re just a racist is all you are.

What was it Obama’s spiritual leader for over twenty years said?  “No, no, no.  Not God bless America.  God DAMN America!”

Well, God damn America it is.  And God damn American jobs, too.

A vote for Obama is a vote to piss on America. It always WAS a vote to piss on America.

If you’re tired of getting pissed on, it’s way past time to get pissed off and throw this fool out of office before he ruins America even more.

  1. Penumbra Says:

And the worst part of all this is that the climate change is likely due to natural causes. Congratulations USA – you are led by the same environmental scammers as we here in Europe!

  2. Michael Eden Says:

Obama wants to be loved by Europe. He ought to be in Europe, frankly.

And just as Europe is beginning to come to their senses and realize that socialism guarantees collapse, Obama is trying to push America off the deep end so we can be just like sick Europe.

  3. Penumbra Says:

Well Michael, if Obama wants to be loved by Europe, he has succeeded. He succeeded in doing so even before he was elected president. I remember very well how the Swedish press reacted to his candidacy and how people debated to his favor on the Internet. His problem is that he has failed among his own people in the U.S., where he likely will candidate for the presidency next year.

Speaking of Obama, I was very fond of Condi Rice. Beautiful, talented, educated, clever woman. But what happened to her? Why has she disappeared from public life and why did she never aspire as presidential candidate for the Republicans?

  4. Michael Eden Says:

It’s easy to see why Europe loves Obama so much. Barry Hussein is returning the favor shipping American jobs to you guys (well, American money anyway; the jobs will probably never come because Obama isn’t any better at creating jobs for Europe than he is at creating them in America).

Of course, Condi was most certainly never loved by Europe (present company excluded). Because she was a Republican and “being black” is only celebrated if one is liberal.

Condi is an example of the fact that anyone who would truly make a good president of the United States doesn’t want the job due to all the garbage the media propaganda puts Republicans through.

  5. Sisu Says:

Odd isn’t it. I am from Finland and Valmet was a heavy industries manufacturer making trains/tractors and then moved into cars. Saab convertibles, the early Porsche Boxter. Now the Fisker cars. They have unions and other issues just the same as the US. There are no tax breaks or loopholes like our competitors have in the US have. In fact we are loaning other countries money within the EU with my tax money. But I trust my politicians and we have a reliable political election system. I can call him if I want. The sad thing is that with all of the money being spent on politics in the US and back handers (sorry fundraising galas) of both political parties for what ever candidate for your president has become a bit of a farce. I don’t think John McCain was going to be a magiacian, he would have been stuck with the same problems and issues that your current President has. The guy is only there for 4 years. You have more indemic problems within the US are deeper than that. You should google Finnish education vs US. But If you want to run for President the amount you want to donate to a party or a politician is caped. Companies can’t donate towards campaigns as they can’t vote.

  6. Michael Eden Says:

    Sisu,

You seem like a pretty decent fellow, Sisu. But let me point out that to hold up Finland as some paradigm of greatness over the United States is kind of absurd on about a hundred different levels.

One of the intrinsic advantages nations like Finland have is that a) they are TINY compared to the US and b) they are homogenous compared to the US. By way of analogy, I could pick out a family, say the Rockefellers, and say why aren’t all you other families like that? It’s far easier to look good when you’re really small and when you’re pretty much all the same and when you DON’T have the status of being the leader of the free world who won World War I and then won World War II and then had to win again in the Cold War than when you have all of those demands on you.

In California, we’re talking about half the kids being Hispanic and an astonishing number of them can’t speak English when they get to school. I have no doubt that it’s the same in Finland, where most of your children speak only Spanish, right? And also in California we’ve got children from numerous cultural and racial backgrounds, and the liberals are demanding that every single one of these cultures get treated with specialized educational instruction because “white education” can’t teach these kids. You’ve got that same thing going in in Finland, right?

Because, otherwise, to hold up your education ranking and insinuate that you could do that here if we just did what you do would be asinine.

That said, we could do a LOT better. A group I’m involved with provides financial support to a Christian private school in Riverside County, California. California is on the bottom ten percent of the US in terms of SAT scores; and Riverside County is on the bottom 10% of Calfornia which as mentioned is on the bottom 10% of the nation. And yet this private Christian school is in the 10% of ALL schools in the nation in SAT scores. Because they honor God and because they don’t have a bunch of union fools running things by utterly failed secular humanist education policies.

So we COULD do things a lot better in education. But unless we decide to kill off 309 million of our people and make sure the only ones who survive are white kids of nordic ancestry, well, you’re probably going to have a leg up on us in terms of your “apple to apple” stats.

Now, we allow our corporations to give money to political campaigns not because “they can’t vote,” but because a corporation is a group of people united in common cause and because corporations are affected by political policies. Free speech is valued in our society and by our Constitution, and until corporations cannot be affected by public policy, they get the right to be part of affecting those policies.

When your Constitution is as ancient and as great and as influential around the world as the American Constitution, I have no doubt that the model of Finland will become far more powerful. Well, after that, and after we’ve killed off 98% of our population and made sure that the survivors are all nordic Europeans, that is. Then we, too, who survive (Good news for me; I’ve got a good shot, being of Swedish ancestry myself!) can enjoy our little Finnish-copied Utopia.

Most of the problems that America is facing today boil down to the fact that we have demographic conditions that you have never experienced in your life. And you therefore cannot possibly understand. When America was at its greatest, we were many peoples united in one nation. Now we’re just many peoples in numerous ethnic groups that are being exploited and demagogued by a left which claims that the Constitution can be interpreted in any way that is convenient for them at any particular time, and nothing unites us into common any more. And given that 95% of you speak Finnish, 5% speak Finland Swedish that Finns can understand, and ALL of you are white from the same stock, well, sorry, but you can’t understand our dilemmas.

Sorry to sound smarmy, but I frankly didn’t know how else to respond to your points.

By the way, I should also point out that Finns giving money to the EU is kind of like a state of the Union such as California sharing money with the federal government. That happens all the time. It’s not anything LIKE the same thing when the United States government gives hundreds of millions of dollars to a completely foreign nation such as what we have in the case described by this article. And to make the situation even MORE absurd, Obama talked up his stimulus as a way to create AMERICAN jobs in America, not jobs in Europe.

  7. Susan Olevson Says:

Fisker Karma Received a loan though the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program through the Energy Department. It was not funded by Obama’s stimulus bill It is, in fact, a program “signed into existence by President George W. Bush in 2007” and first funded by legislation Bush signed in 2008.
This is the kind of stuff where “Republicans twist the truth” because most people will believe it since the funds were released on “Obama’s watch” that he was responsible…the true story wasn’t told that it was Bush ‘s signature on the dotted line.

  8. Michael Eden Says:

    Susan Olevson,

This is the kind of stuff where I see that Democrats are outright liars and couldn’t tell the truth if their lives depended on being honest.

For the record, the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program DID receive stimulus money to the tune of $10 million. And further, both Obama and Biden have REPEATEDLY pitched the “success” of the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program as being part of their stimulus. So first you lie by saying there were no stimulus dollars involved, and then you call me a liar because apparently I was fool enough to believe your messiah’s lies.

You also lie in trying to pin the disaster on Bush. THE FISKER LOAN WAS GRANTED THROUGH THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION AND NOT THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION. The fact that the program already existed is meaningless. It’s kind of like if Nixon had said that the Watergate tapes only proved that FDR was guilty becaus after all FDR had installed a taping system before Nixon had so it was a “preexisting program” and Nixon couldn’t be held responsible. Fisker was COMPLETELY Obama’s baby. Wear it.

I block liars. Especially liars who call me a liar and then lie like there’s no such thing as the truth.
