High School Students Sums Up Results Of Entire Obama Presidency: ‘It’s Worse Tasting, Smaller Sized And Higher Priced’

September 19, 2012

Nick Blohm is learning about socialism the hard way: his calories have been redistributed:

Students strike against new federal school lunch rules
By Jim McLaughlin of the Journal Sentinel
Sept. 17, 2012

Mukwonago – By 7 a.m. Monday, senior Nick Blohm already had burned about 250 calories in the Mukwonago High School weight room.

He grabbed a bagel and a Gatorade afterward; if he eats before lifting, he gets sick.

That was followed by eight periods in the classroom, and then three hours of football practice. By the time he headed home, he had burned upward of 3,000 calories – his coach thinks the number is even higher.

But the calorie cap for his school lunch? 850 calories.

“A lot of us are starting to get hungry even before the practice begins,” Blohm said. “Our metabolisms are all sped up.”

Following new federal guidelines, school districts nationwide have retooled their menus to meet new requirements to serve more whole grains, only low-fat or nonfat milk, daily helpings of both fruits and vegetables, and fewer sugary and salty items. And for the first time, federal funds for school lunches mandate age-aligned calorie maximums. The adjustments are part of the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 touted by Michelle Obama and use the updated Dietary Guidelines for Americans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The changes are hard to swallow for students like Blohm. On Monday, 70% of the 830 Mukwonago High students who normally buy lunch boycotted cafeteria food to protest what they see as an unfair “one size fits all thing.” Middle schoolers in the district also boycotted their school lunches, with counts down nearly half Monday. They’re not alone in their frustration; schools across the country are reporting students who are unhappy with the lunch offerings.

The sub sandwich line at Mukwonago High used to let students pile veggies on a six-inch French bread bun. Options now include a fist-sized whole wheat roll or multigrain wrap, and the once popular line is now mostly empty.

The healthier food is less the issue than the portions.

“A freshman girl who weighs 100 pounds can eat this lunch and feel completely full, maybe even a little bloated,” said Joey Bougneit, a Mukwonago senior.

But Blohm is a 6-foot-3-inch, 210-pound linebacker. He’s also class president, and takes several Advanced Placement classes. If schools want students to perform well, he said, they can’t be sitting in their chairs hungry.

Last year’s fare featured favorites like chicken nuggets and mini corn dogs in helpings that were “relatively decent,” Bougneit said. But health-conscious regulations have changed that. Last week’s super nacho plate, for example, offered just eight tortilla chips.

Adding to the dissatisfaction is a 10-cent price hike on lunches because the USDA, which oversees the National School Lunch Program, forced many districts to raise full-price lunches closer to the $2.86 it reimburses for students who qualify for free lunches. That means the leaner, greener lunches at Mukwonago High this year now cost $2.50 instead of $2.40.

“Now it’s worse tasting, smaller sized and higher priced,” Bougneit said.

Officials share concerns

Pam Harris, the district food service supervisor and a registered dietitian, said children’s weight and poor nutrition in America are serious problems, but the changes are too abrupt.

“I could not be more passionate about this,” Harris said. “I want to solve this problem. But limiting calories in school lunch is not going to help the overweight kid. What happens at home is a major piece of that puzzle.”

“Our issue is pretty much kids just don’t want to eat vegetables,” she said. “The USDA wants to solve the problem of childhood obesity. Those are two kind of separate issues.”

Harris spoke at all lunch periods Friday to explain the federal dietary changes and had students fill out comment cards explaining what they do and don’t like about the new menu. She plans to send those and parent letters to the USDA in hopes the department will allow districts including Mukwonago to gradually introduce their menu over a few years.

In a clothing store bag the size of a backpack, Blohm lugged his homemade, linebacker-size lunch including a bag of raw carrots, two ham sandwiches on wheat bread, two granola bars, an apple and three applesauce cups – an estimated total of 1,347 calories.

How long will the students keep boycotting the lunch program?

“I’ve already told my mom we might be packing my lunch for the rest of the year,” Blohm said.

Clay Iverson, Mukwonago’s varsity football head coach, said student-athletes are bigger, stronger and more athletic than ever before, and their food intake needs have evolved.

“Everything has been accelerated, and maybe nutrition hasn’t been,” he said.

He worries that if players’ stomachs are growling by the end of the school day, they’ll go home and binge on anything they get their hands on and undo any of the benefits of the lighter, healthier school lunch.

Teens need a push to make healthy eating choices, Iverson said, but they’ve got plenty else to worry about during the football season.

“I wonder if the people who made the decision had to go through a day like Nick Blohm.”

For the factual record, Barack and Michelle Obama know exactly what every tummy needs, and if you’re still hungry after your ObamaMeal, it’s only because you don’t have enough faith in your messiah.  Plus you’re a racist.

These kids are ingrates.  They ought to relish every single bite and thank Obama that they have to pay more to get less.

They should be happy that we’re boldy following the path pioneered by the People’s Republic of North Korea.

And under Obama’s glorious policies, we are entering our fourth year of crop failure which, combined with our stupid and immoral energy policy, will help foster food riots around the world.

Pretty soon senior citizens will have the exact same opportunity to enjoy the same sorts of benefits from ObamaCare.  Think of it as redistributing the pain.

I remember the lines from 1984: “War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.”

Let me add one more in honor of Big Brother ‘Bama: “Less is more.”

Wisconsin Cut-and-Run Democrats Are FleeBaggers

February 26, 2011

Michelle Malkin has a way with words.  Handle her wit with extreme care, because that sucker is razor sharp.

We were called “tea baggers” by journalists like CNN’s Anderson Cooper who masquerades as someone who is remotely objective.  The word “tea baggers,” as Cooper made sure we understood, is a crude sexual reference to a rather disgusting act.

And, of course, we were also called “Astroturf” by liberals like Nancy Pelosi, which was an accusation that somehow we weren’t an authentic grass roots movement.

Now we’ve got liberal union thugs being bussed in to protest events from all over the country, and we get to see what morally intelligent people knew all along: that if you want to see actual Astroturf, look at the Democrats’ field.

And in honor of the 14 Wisconsin Democrats who actually fled the state so that democracy could not take place (well, unless showing up and voting is somehow the OPPOSITE of the democratic process), Michelle Malkin has coined a new term: “fleebaggers.”

Fleebaggers: The New Cut-and-Run Democrats
By Michelle Malkin  •  February 23, 2011

First lady Michelle Obama said, “Let’s Move!” Who knew Democratic politicians in Wisconsin and Indiana would take her literally?

Faced with stifling debt, bloated pensions and intractable government unions, liberal Midwestern legislators have fled those states — paralyzing Republican fiscal reform efforts. Like Monty Python’s Brave Sir Robin and his band of quivering knights, these elected officials have only one plan when confronted with political hardship or economic peril: Run away, run away, run away.

Scores of Fleebagger Democrats are now in hiding in neighboring Illinois, the nation’s sanctuary for political crooks and corruptocrats. Soon, area hotels will be announcing a special discount rate for card-carrying FleePAC winter convention registrants. Question: Will the White House count the economic stimulus from the mass Democratic exodus to Illinois as jobs “saved” or “created”? More important question: How much are taxpayers being charged for these obstructionist vacations?

Voters have spoken: In Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio and across the heartland, they put Republican adults in charge of cleaning up profligate Democrat-engineered messes. Instead of defending their same old tax-hiking, union-protecting, spending-addicted ways, Democrats are crossing their state borders into big government sanctuary zones — screaming “la, la, la, we can’t hear you” all the way.

Wisconsin Democrats warned that their delinquent members — evading state troopers and literally phoning it in — could be gone “for weeks” to prevent a quorum on GOP Gov. Scott Walker’s modest plan to increase public union workers’ health insurance and pension contributions, end the compulsory union dues racket and rein in collective bargaining powers run amok.

Big Labor insists its intransigence isn’t about money, but about “rights.” But the dispute is about nothing but money and power — the union’s power to dictate and limit its members’ health insurance choices to a lucrative union-run plan, for example, which adds nearly $70 million in unnecessary taxpayer costs.

On Tuesday, only three of 40 House Democrats in Indiana showed up for legislative debate on a similar bill to end forced unionism and join 22 other “right to work” states. Hoosier media reported that some of the fugitive pols may be headed to Kentucky in addition to President Obama’s old political stomping grounds.

The White House and Beltway Democrats have paved the way for subverting deliberative democracy, of course. If only Republicans in Wisconsin and Indiana had followed the Obama/Pelosi/Reid model and rammed their behind-closed-doors-crafted legislative agenda through in the middle of the night on a holiday weekend, the Fleebaggers wouldn’t be on the lam today. But GOP legislators just don’t roll that way. It’s Democrats who cut and run — abroad in wartime and at home in crisis.

Almost eight years ago, more than 50 Texas Democratic state lawmakers holed up in Oklahoma and New Mexico for weeks to stymie a vote on Republican-sponsored redistricting plans they opposed. Over the past week, it was thousands of public school teachers in Wisconsin who faked illness and boycotted their classrooms. And it’s union henchmen calling out loud for statewide strikes to bring Republican reformers to their knees.

The Party of Truancy has become a laughingstock — and Americans aren’t waiting for left-wing late-night comedians to bring down the hammer of well-earned mockery. The Internet has lit up over the past week with “Wanted” posters and all-points-bulletin alerts for missing Democrats.

Blogger John Hayward of the conservative Human Events newspaper joked that “the next issue of National Geographic will track the migratory patterns of fugitive Democrats across the great plains.” Seton Motley of LessGovernment.org weighed in: “First, Wisconsin. Now, Indiana. When we said ‘runaway government,’ it was a complaint — not a suggestion.” Comedian Stephen Kruiser snickered that OFA — the Democrats’ political organizing arm, Organizing for America — now stands for “Organizing Fleeing Americans.”

Note: Many of the loudest Washington and Hollywood critics of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s decision to resign from office in 2009 are themselves now AWOL on the Wisconsin and Indiana AWOL-ians. Who’s all for mocking “quitters” now? Anyone?

One mortified Wisconsin taxpayer speaks for many. “As the daughter of former Wisconsin Senate Minority Floor Leader William R. Moser (D-Milwaukee, Dist. 6),” Mary Magdalen Moser told me, she’s humiliated by the “flee-bagging” politicians. “I am ashamed of the actions taken by the minority party to subvert our system of government by boycotting its legitimate processes. Anarchy is undemocratic, and I know that my Dad is spinning in his grave right now. … I do not support refusing to participate, because that will not solve any of the issues facing our state.”

Remember the 2008 Democratic Party chant: “Fired up! Ready to go!” Well, there’s a new Democratic Party motto in town: “Ready to go? OK, then, let’s blow this pop stand!” It’s difficult to see how Obama and his absconder allies can “win the future” when they’re stampeding over each other to escape the present.

I remember not that long ago when liberals were actually tearing into Republicans merely for VOTING their consciences.  How DARE they not support us in our hard-core liberal agenda that we rammed down their throats?  Then it was un-American to show up to vote.  As long as you were a Republican.

They sneered at us, “Elections have consequences.  And you lost!”  But as angry as we were about every trick in the book used to ram home a liberal agenda, we showed up every day to fight our cause.

Democrats abused their power.  They abused the people’s trust.  And they lost that trust massively as displayed in November.

Now, all of a sudden, elections SHOULDN’T have consequences.  Now, all of a sudden, any vile dirty trick is fine as long as its liberals who get to play them.

The Democrats are now fleeing their states so they don’t have to attend to the democratic process of that state and do its business.  They flee to other liberal states so that they won’t be sent back in handcuffs.  If this were the national Congress, these Democrats would be fleeing to Cuba or North Korea or Libya where similar-minded dictators would welcome them as they turn their backs on democracy.  That’s what the Democrat Party has degenerated to.

Principle means staying in the ring and fighting, even when the fight isn’t going your way.  Just imagine if Republicans had decided that they didn’t want to play “democracy” any longer and fled town during the ObamaCare debacle.  Imagine how they would have rightly been excoriated by the media!!!

Republicans in Wisconsin – and anywhere else Democrats play this un-American game of shutting down democracy by literally fleeing from their states like child molesters – need to first pass every non-budget item in their agenda.  Every single one, such that they can set the Democrat Party in that state back 100 years for refusing to represent their constituents.  And then they should strip the collective bargaining element of the budget out and then vote for it as a non-budgetary matter.

Of course, now that Democrats say it’s fine to shut down the government, now that Democrats say it’s fine to ignore democratic processes and simply run out of town, shutting down the government this way should become the new norm.  The only reason this wouldn’t be the case is because Democrats are inherent childish hypocrites who damn others for doing what they did first.  And America will therefore continue – led by vile Democrats – to degenerate.  Democrats are like a giant reciprocating engine, whose every downward stroke and counterstroke inevitably drives the whole culture further and further down into the sewers of a banana republic.

Rabid Arizona Boycotters Continue To Be Boycotted – Blame Obama For The Whole Mess

May 22, 2010

Remember how Obama promised to transcend the political divide and reach out to “move beyond the divisive politics”?

Well, he lied.

Instead we have the most divisive and polarizing president in American history, a man who fearmongers, demagogues, and demonizes without regard for the truth.

Obama deceitfully and maliciously told a story of fathers being deported just for taking their children to get ice cream.  The fact of the matter is that there is absolutely nothing whatsoever in the Arizona immigration law that would produce anything like the fearmongering scenarios our Demagogue-in-chief claims.  And I defy anyone to actually cite the bills as proof of any such argument.

If you really want to go after a bigoted racist on immigration policy, why don’t you go after Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the Democrat Congress?  Because they’re running the federal government, and it is simply a fact that the federal law is FAR more “racist” than the Arizona law.

And, of course, Democrats gave a standing ovation to the President of Mexico, whose immigration laws protecting Mexico from Central American illegal immigrants are about as hard-core as it gets.

But none of that matters.  Not to Obama, and not to Demon-crats.  They’re liars and demagogues, and what else do you expect liars and demagogues to do if not lie and demagogue???

So, in the bipartisan, non-ideological, and transcendent world of Barack Obama, American cities boycott one another in a move to start an economic war that will bring the country crashing down.

The silver lining to it – if there IS one – is that the boycott appears to be hurting the cities of the rabid little liberal rodents even more than it’s hurting Arizona:

Boycott Backlash: Some stay out of city
Growing number vow not to do business in Austin
Friday, 21 May 2010

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The city council’s decision to boycott travel to Arizona is resulting in organizations and individuals boycotting the city of Austin in protest.

A growing number of political organizations, including the Odessa and Burleson Tea Parties, have decided not to do business with the city of Austin until the council rescinds the Arizona boycott they passed a few weeks ago.

“We will try to minimize what the city gets from our stay there,” said Hood county Republican Party Chairman Randy Shelton. “We will not stay in hotels inside the city of Austin and we will not ride the city transit.”

Shelton says they will continue to support Austin businesses but try to prevent any dollars from going towards city revenue. Other boycotts are more extreme.

A search online showed many more individuals vowing not to do business in Austin, including one poster who says they will cancel hotel reservations and a Leander resident who says they will skip having lunch inside Austin city limits.

The boycott apparently is already being felt according to the Austin Hotel and Lodging Association who sent KXAN this statement:

“The AHLA is not a political association and does not in any way support travel boycotts of any kind. Hotels in Austin are now beginning to experience concrete evidence from the many visitors now canceling their leisure or business plans to Austin.”

KXAN was told some of the cancellations include riders who normally take part in the Republic of Texas Rally.

All I can say, residents of Austin, is that you should have thought about this before you elected a bunch of leftwing ideologue loons to your city council.

I wrote an earlier article about San Diego reeling from counter-boycotts by pissed-off Arizonans.  Let San Diego’s tourism industry blow up in flames because Democrats are vile and intolerant people who just have to spread their hate around with boycotts against innocent and decent Arizonans who are just trying to deal with an impossible wave of illegal immigration and the crises created by illegal immigration.

And I frankly hope that Los Angeles is honest enough to cut off a full 25% of their electricity which is produced by Arizona.  And Arizona may help Los Angeles find their missing integrity by cutting off the electricity it supplies.  You want a boycott?  Let’s have at it.  Wonder how many Los Angelinos will die sweltering in the heat without air conditioning this summer as a result of their own city council’s stupid and immoral boycott?

This is all Barack Obama’s fault.  He’s the demagogue who started this.  He’s the one who has set us at one anothers’ throats with his fearmongering and his lies.  Thanks to him, we don’t have to worry about al Qaeda, or Iran, or North Korea; now we’ve got to worry about Los Angeles and Austin and a whole bunch of other cities starting an endless war of mutually assured economic destruction with the people of Arizona.

Maybe one of Obama’s top officials will finally actually bother to read the ten page law they’ve been demonizing.  None of them have so far.  The reason none of them have is because they don’t want to have to be held accountable to the truth.
