Hope ‘n Change Coming To Fruition: Cost Of EVERYTHING About To Go Up

February 23, 2011

Give ’em hell, Obama, you son of hell.

The people voted for God Damn America and it’s time they got their God Damned America.  And the bill for it:

Cost of…everything…about to go up
Updated: Feb 21, 2011 4:02 PM PST

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – You paid more last month for practically everything you bought.

From food to gas to airfare tickets – even clothing.

And now the price of everything is about to go up again.

A new report from The Labor Department indicates its concern about inflation, and businesses are claiming they can’t absorb the rising cost of commodities alone. Many say they’ll have no choice but to raise prices and shrink packages. Frustrating stuff for an economy that’s supposed to be recovering.

“Things are just not going well,” says Charlotte resident Lisa Bettinghouse. “You have to eat, but you can only have what you can afford, and now it’s getting scary.”

Bettinghouse needs a plan. She’ll be asking herself tough questions, and so should you.

What things should you stock up on now?

What things can you do without?

Take bottled water. Every time you purchase one of these, you already pay a 4,000% markup. Time to reevaluate your tap.

And you should also rethink fruits and vegetables. Right now many stores fly them in, and with the price of fuel, well, you know how expensive they already are.

Charlotte resident Jonathan Weber says he’ll fight the rising costs by sticking to one rule: buy local.

“Local food is important,” Weber says, “because when you consider the transport cost of importing food from Mexico or bringing it across country from California that really is sort of a hidden cost.”

There are a spattering of farmers markets around town, and this summer, thirty local food vendors will move in to the old Reid’s spot uptown.

And when it comes to combating costs, don’t forget about another product of our times – all those money-saving coupon sites.

And if you had half a wit, you would have seen this hell coming long before you vote for this moral idiot.

The headlines now –

Crisis in Libya Raises Fears of Skyrocketing Oil Prices Causing Pain at the Pump

– match what Obama was saying his policy was all along.

Obama has said that higher prices for oil are good.  He just wanted to spread out the pain over a longer period of time.

Obama’s appointments reflect his determination to drive up oil prices and therefore force the American people against their will to embrace his radical leftist energy agenda.  Take Obama’s Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, who has stated on the record that he wanted tofigure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.”  And at the time gasoline prices were close to $8 a gallon.

Electicity?  He was perfectly fine if the cost of electricity skyrocketed.  In fact he said under his policies prices would “necessarily skyrocket.”

These people are getting exactly what they want.  And by “exactly what they want,” I mean the destruction of the American economy so a purely socialist system can be erected in the ashes.

I think of North Korea and Kim Jong Il.  I think of a country that is literally starving due to a leftwing socialist’s policies.  I have said:

Since Obama was elected, I’ve been saying that a third of American voters would continue to support Obama even if he led us into the stone-age-like conditions that Kim Il Jong has led his people into.  We could be living in the dark and freezing at night, and scratching our own fecal matter from the ground in order to have something to burn, and this group of people would still adore their Dear Leader.

The media propaganda and “the state” are so behind Kim Jong Il that even as people starve to death and die, they thank their lucky stars for their “Dear Leader.”  The tiny, emaciated people hang pictures of him in their homes and even literally worship him.  And then I think of Obama, the mainstream media and the government unions.

You voted for our Manchurian candidate.  Now you’ve got the hell you voted for.  You got food that’s twice as expensive but packaged in smaller containers to fool Democrats and other total idiots.

Now, you can either believe Obama’s lies even as he continues to blame everybody but himself for going on three years of abject failure and worsening conditions, or you can join the growing numbers who want this clown and his Democrat party of clowns out of our lives.

Where’s The Coverage? Sarah Palin Cleared Of ALL Bogus Charges

June 8, 2009

Sarah Palin may have lost an election in November, but she has a perfect batting record knocking politically-motivated attack charges filed against her out of the park.

She’s 14 for 14 now.  At some point, a reasonable person would come to believe that the people going after her are genuinely bad, genuinely disturbed, genuinely vicious, genuinely petty, and genuinely un-American people.

If people who file criminal and ethics charges against an innocent person out of political motivations aren’t Stalinists, then Stalin wasn’t a Stalinist.

Gov. Sarah Palin Quietly Cleared of All Ethics Charges

Monday, June 8, 2009 9:22 AM

By: Amanda Carpenter, The Washington Times

The accusations made news, but with another dismissal of an ethics charge last week against Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the former Republican vice-presidential nominee has quietly been cleared of every ethics complaint filed since the torrent of allegations began in 2008.

Mrs. Palin, who became a target of such complaints after being named Sen. John McCain’s running mate, is 14-for-14 in fighting off the complaints. She’s been cleared of 13 charges by the independent State Personnel Board and of another complaint by the Federal Election Commission (FEC).

After the latest complaint in Alaska was dismissed last week, Mrs. Palin’s team said that having to fend off the pile of accusations was wasting state money.

“This complaint cost the governor personally, and the state of Alaska, thousands of dollars to address,” said Thomas Van Flein, the governor’s attorney. “It is regrettable that the ethics process has been diverted for partisan purposes by some, but it is also commendable that the board remains focused on the law.”

The floodgates opened after Mrs. Palin was tapped by Mr. McCain of Arizona and she was accused of abusing power by firing state Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan.

Four complaints related to this matter were filed to the personnel board. One of them was filed by the governor as a means of self-disclosure. In the end, no violation was found.

Even after the election was over, the stream of complaints continued.

Alaska residents challenged Mrs. Palin’s trips out of state to attend a campaign event for Sen. Saxby Chambliss, Georgia Republican, and to speak at a pro-life breakfast in Indiana, as well as for conducting television interviews in her state office.

The latest complaint to be decided was filed by Anchorage resident Linda Kellen Biegel, who took issue with Mrs. Palin for wearing to a public function a jacket made by a company that sponsored the governor’s husband, Todd, a snow machine racer. Ms. Biegel asked the personnel board to determine whether Mrs. Palin was abusing her position to serve her personal and financial interests.

Mrs. Palin called the complaint “asinine political grandstanding,” and the board’s independent investigator said there was no evidence of wrongdoing.

“My investigation has uncovered no evidence that the governor or her husband received anything of value in exchange for the governor wearing the Team Arctic jacket when she acted as the official starter of the 2009 Iron Dog,” said Thomas Daniel, the investigator. “I also note that most jackets worn by Alaskans have a company name or logo on them.”

What are the odds this is going to be on page A-1 of the New York Times?  What do you think are the odds that Keith Olbermann (or for that matter Brian Williams) is going to run this story and ask why liberals continue to immorally use the courts to attack an honest woman?

How Much Have Obamas Spent On Clothes?

October 24, 2008

It’s kind of funny to me.  When John McCain and Sarah Palin point out that Barack Obama “palled around” with terrorist William Ayers (“partnered with” is a better way to put it), the all-over-the-air and way-over-the-top Democratic talking point was that this was an attempt to take attention away from the “real issues.”  Journalists told us that with so many issues of profound importance facing the country, focusing on something as trivial as a terrorist buddy was ridiculous.  And then the “bombshell revelation” that the McCain-Palin campaign might have spent $150,000 outfitting Sarah Palin and upgrading her image for the campaign hits like some major scandal.  And THAT’S relevant!

You don’t hear the drive-by mainstream media condescendingly pointing out how irrelevant Sarah Palin’s wardrobe is, or how this is a clear attempt to distract the public from the damage created by the “Joe the Plumber” situation.  Nope.  The media would never dare apply the same talking points to Republicans that they routinely use to justify and support Democrats.  Goebbels never turned on Hitler, you know.

In any event, I read a few condescending stories from the leftist media (such as the Huffington Post), but couldn’t find any reference to what Barack or Michelle Obama spent on their clothes.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that they’ve both spent a ton of dough.  The Politico article says that, “A review of similar records for the campaign of Democrat Barack Obama and the Democratic National Committee turned up no similar spending.”  But keep in mind that every penny of McCain campaign money is accounted for due to public financing regulations, whereas we have no idea where more than $200 million of Obama’s money came from.  And we also come to find out that designers have given wardrobes to Democratic candidates in order to garner publicity, which itself amounts to a violation of campaign laws.

Hillary Clinton’s famous pantsuits costs more than $6,000 each – and  she had a LOT of pantsuits.  And it turns out she probably didn’t pay anything for them, according to the woman who designed them for her:

One of Mrs. Clinton’s famous political fashion designers, Susanna Chung Forest, who designed Hillary’s pantsuits, which, that’s gotta boost the resume. She says that it would be unusual for a candidate as famous as Sarah Palin to need to buy clothes at all, meaning most of these women are not buying their clothes, they’re given to them by the designers in order to get publicity, just as Hollywood starlets on the red carpet before the Emmys and the Oscars, those gowns are all donated.

We also find out if we dig around long enough out that Obama is getting his suits at Barney’s, and that Michelle wears Maria Pinto, Valentino, and other top fashion brands.  And we learn that people who live in designer glass-houses shouldn’t throw diamonds:

The current issue of Harper’s Bazaar notes that the Democratic presidential candiate’s wife wears Valentino, among others. Looks like when the Obamas say “spread the wealth around,” they mean at top shelf department stores.

I’m not outraged at this. The pressure of being in the public eye is understandable. What’s disturbing is the double standard. Michelle Obama gets hailed by the fashionistas while Palin gets crucified and mocked by the fashion police.

These same liberals who are now appalled at the Palin shopping spree are the same ones that thought it shallow and superficial to discuss Newsweek’s obvious recent cheap shot cover of Sarah Palin because we have more important fish to fry. Where are these people now to shout that this issue is trivial? And how do they manage to get so fired up about Palin’s appearance all of sudden?

This latest attack on Sarah Palin is geared to undermine her as a real “woman of the people.”  But the reality is that it shows that she IS a woman of the people.  She didn’t have the kind of clothing that would withstand the unrelenting glare of the national spotlight.  How many “women of the people” do?  This woman who sold the governor’s private jet, got rid of the governor’s limosine, fired the governor’s chef, etc. clearly IS a “woman of the people” whether the McCain campaign upgrades her image or not.  And given the fact that the Obama campaign has easily outspent the McCain campaign 4-1, what does it matter that the McCain campaign believed that upgrading the image of an attractive candidate was money poorly spent?

The McCain campaign has reported that the clothes will be sold off and the proceeds donated to charity after the election.

Now let’s get back to the serious issues of the campaign, such as how Barack Obama is a socialist who will keep Joe the Plumber from being able to buy a small business so Obama can “spread the wealth around.”

Highlights From Fred Thompson’s Great RNC Speech

September 3, 2008

I’ve always like Fred Thompson.  His combination of folksy wit, good old boy charm, and a brilliant mind make him a brilliant speaker.

Tonight, he took the podium at the Republican National Convention, and knocked Republicans dead – even as he knocked Democrats’ heads together like Moe with the stooges.

I’d like to present some highlights of the speech (entire transcript available HERE):

[Sarah Palin] and John McCain are not going to care how much the alligators get irritated when they get to Washington, they’re going to drain that swamp.

But tonight, I’d like to talk to you about the remarkable story of John McCain.

It’s a story about character.

John McCain’s character has been tested like no other presidential candidate in the history of this nation.
——

John McCain was preparing to take off from the USS Forrestal for his sixth mission over Vietnam, when a missile from another plane accidentally fired and hit his plane.

The flight deck burst into a fireball of jet fuel.

John’s flight suit caught fire.

He was hit by shrapnel.

It was a scene of horrible human devastation.

Men sacrificed their lives to save others that day. One kid, who John couldn’t identify because he was burned beyond recognition, called out to John to ask if a certain pilot was OK.

John replied that, yes, he was.

The young sailor said, “Thank God”… and then he died.

These are the kind of men John McCain served with. (more…)
