In an impassioned speech on the Senate floor this morning, Sen. Joe Manchin (D., W.Va.) rebuked President Obama for sitting on the sidelines in the debate over federal spending. “Why are we doing all this when the most powerful person in these negotiations — our president — has failed to lead this debate or offer a serious proposal for spending and cuts that he would be willing to fight for?” Manchin asked.
The freshman senator slammed both parties for proposing spending plans that are “extremely partisan and unrealistic.” The Democratic plan to cut $4.7 billion “doesn’t go nearly far enough [and] utterly ignores our fiscal reality,” he said. “It continues to sail forward as if there’s no storm on the horizon.”
But, he said, the House Republican plan (H.R. 1) to cut $61 billion was “even more flawed . . . [and] blindly hacks the budget with no sense of our priorities or our values as a country.”
But ultimately, Manchin blamed the president for the sloppy state of the negotiations. “This debate will be decided when the president leads these tough negotiations, and right now that is not happening,” he said. “The bottom line is this — the president is the leader of this great nation, and when it comes to an issue of significant national importance, the president must lead.”
Manchin’s speech comes as a number of other Senate Democrats are expressing concern over their own party’s willingness to cut spending (and the NRSC is running ads like this).
Rather than lead on dealing with our crippling deficit and our even more lethal national debt, Barack Obama is actually sitting back waiting for the Republicans in the House to lead so he can lead the charge in demonizing them as the party that wants to starve the poor if they try to save America from a 100%-guaranteed-to-happen financial implosion. He literally doesn’t care if America self-destructs in a few years – as long as he and his radical ideology can benefit from it (note: Cloward and Piven alert -see also here).
Who would have ever thought a man whose only real experience was that of a community agitator wouldn’t be up to the job of running America?
Interestingly, even this article detailing centrist Democrats “ripping” Obama couldn’t face the reality of the sheer extent of the disaster Obama led the Democrat Party into: this wasn’t the worst election drubbing since 1994; it was the worst election drubbing since 1938 (and since 1928 in the state legislatures).
THAT is how big the ruin has been for the Marxist Democrat Party.
In the wake of the party’s worst election drubbing since 1994, the deep frustration felt by many centrist Democrats toward the White House and the national party is now out in the open. And it’s being aired in the battleground state that’s the biggest prize in presidential politics.
Florida Democratic gubernatorial nominee Alex Sink pointed an accusatory finger Friday at what she called a “tone-deaf” Obama White House to explain why she narrowly lost her campaign.
In an interview with POLITICO, Sink said the administration mishandled the response to the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, doesn’t appreciate the political damage done by healthcare reform and argued that her GOP opponent’s strategy of tying her to the president did grave damage to her candidacy in the state’s conservative Panhandle.
“They got a huge wake-up call two days ago, but unfortunately they took a lot of Democrats down with them,” said Sink of the White House.
She added: “They just need to be better listeners and be better at reaching out to people who are on the ground to hear about the realities of their policies as well as politics.”
Sink’s complaint can, of course, be chalked up in part to sour grapes on the part of a candidate fresh off a tough loss looking for an explanation. She lost her race by a single percentage point.
But Sink’s pointed critique expressed the sentiments of other Florida Democrats after an election in which the party lost four U.S. House seats and every statewide contest Tuesday, not to mention statehouse losses that left Democrats facing GOP legislative supermajorities in one of the largest states in the nation.
Sink, the state’s elected Chief Financial Officer and a former banking executive, ran against Republican Rick Scott, a wealthy former health care CEO who spent tens of millions of his own fortune.
“I faced headwinds from Washington that I liken to a tsunami and was going up against a guy who had unlimited resources,” Sink said. “I could have overcome either one but not both.”
Sink even had the advantage of facing a GOP opponent who was a first-time candidate who had previously run a company slapped with the largest Medicare fraud fine ever issued. But Scott countered that liability with a massive ad campaign linking Sink to Obama, a very unpopular figure in the more conservative parts of the sprawling state.
“[People] preferred to vote for somebody with questionable ethics than for somebody who was associated with the Washington Democratic agenda,” the Floridian said.
Sink said there is a disconnect between the White House and the rest of the country.
“I think they were tone-deaf,” she said. “They weren’t interested in hearing my opinion on what was happening on the ground with the oil spill. And they never acknowledged that they had problems with the acceptance of health care reform.”
The new law, she said, is “unpopular particularly among seniors” — a key voting bloc in the Sunshine State.
As for Scott’s hard-hitting ads depicting her as an Obama clone, Sink said the spots hurt “particularly in Northwest Florida.” […]
But when the candidate criticized the White House response to the oil spill and specifically a summer speech by Vice President Joe Biden in a POLITICO article, an angry administration official called her to demand she “walk back” her assessment, said two sources familiar with the situation.
Sink didn’t deny the exchange.
“I don’t follow anybody’s party line if I don’t think they’re on the right track,” she said when asked about the call.
Another heated back-and-forth took place over whether Sink would meet Obama on the Miami airport tarmac when the president arrived in August for a state party fundraiser. The White House was angry, according to Sink sympathizers, about what they saw as a snub when the candidate stayed away. […]
Still, when they weren’t protecting the president’s image, Obama aides were either totally unhelpful to the campaign or trying to big-foot the operation, according to sources familiar with the contest.
In the spring, when Sink’s campaign was adrift and desperately in need of a shake-up, there was a meeting in Washington with a group of senior Democrats.
Following the meeting, a mid-level White House political official sent out a one-page memo that operatives saw as so illustrative of the Obama team’s cluelessness about the race that they had it laminated and regularly mocked it.
The document, obtained by POLITICO, included such numbered headers as “Hire Key Staff” and “Develop and present a holistic campaign plan.”
A White House official said the memo was only a summary of the conversation for the participants — not a strategic plan.
But Sink’s allies also complain that Obama aides too frequently intervened with the state party’s coordinated campaign.
A White House political affairs office staffer flew down to Florida in the spring to meet with major Obama donors to get their input on the joint funding program.
“They went around what we were trying to do and tried to get their donors to influence what the coordinated process was instead of letting us drive it,” carped one Democratic operative involved in the race.
Even as they concede that Sink made mistakes, Florida Democratic operatives who were not directly involved with the campaign make the case that she was dragged down by the national party.
“She talked about jobs, she talked about taxes, but it didn’t matter,” said veteran strategist Screven Watson. “They put Sink with Pelosi and Obama.”
“If only we had worked on jobs and the economy and maybe an energy bill — but no, we tried to do everything,” he said of the national party. “And then they do an awful job of communicating what they did. So what’s the end result? We just saw it.”
Clueless. Tone deaf. Incompetent. Self-absorbed. That’s your president. And that’s according to Democrats.
“What is a danger is that we stay stuck in a new normal where unemployment rates stay high, people who have jobs see their incomes go up, businesses make big profits, but they’ve learned to do more with less, and so they don’t hire,” he said.
And, of course, high unemployment WILL BE the new normal, until Obama is driven out of office in disgrace like Jimmy Carter.
Notice that Obama demonizes businesses for being too greedy and stingy to hire, rather than having any sense whatsoever that his policies have made it too expensive to hire new employees, or that his policies have left businesses with no idea what kinds of taxes, energy prices, health care costs, regulations, and frankly demonizing, that they will face from this incredibly ideologically socialist ship of fools.
Obama falsely presented himself as a great unifier, a “new politician,” one who would transcendentally rise above petty bickering and usher us into a new Utopia.
The only problem is that he was in reality never anything more than a petty demagogue. He’s a community organizer, and all that community organizers know how to do is racially divide communities and boycott businesses that create jobs and produce wealth.
Listen to the audio of Obama’s contemptibly arrogant boasts while watching footage of pelicans desperately floundering to somehow stay alive in the billions of gallons of oil contaminating the coasts.
And as Americans rightly blame Obama’s federal government more and more for this disaster, that demagogue is coming out to bite.
VENICE, La/WASHINGTON (Reuters) – President Barack Obama said he wanted to know “whose ass to kick” over the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, adding to the pressure on energy giant BP Plc as it sought to capture more of the leak from its gushing well.
“I don’t sit around just talking to experts because this is a college seminar. We talk to these folks because they potentially have the best answer so I know whose ass to kick,” Obama said in an interview with NBC News’ “Today” to air on Tuesday.
They were the angriest words yet about the catastrophe from Obama, who has been criticized for his response to the worst oil spill in U.S. history. Obama reiterated that all those affected should be adequately compensated.
Why don’t you start by kicking your own ass, Obama? And give it a good, hard kick right out of the office you are clearly not qualified to hold.
A Washington Post/ABC poll found that 69 percent of Americans believe the government had done a “not so good” or “poor” job handling the spill. Just over 1,000 people were surveyed in the poll, conducted between June 3 and 6.
Which is another way of saying, “Hey Obama, you suck!!!”
The American people think you should kick your own damn lying weaselly scrawny ass.
A month and a half after the spill began, 69 percent in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll rate the federal response negatively. That compares with a 62 negative rating for the response to Katrina two weeks after the August 2005 hurricane.
Which is to say you are now officially a bigger failure over the Gulf disaster than George Bush was over Hurricane Katrina, Obama. Please wear the title of “Worst President EVER” proudly.
You really want to know whose ass to kick, Obama? I cite myself from a previous article, and that is hardly all the reasons to blame Obama:
That’s hardly all the reasons to point out that Obama bears a massive amount of responsibility for this disaster, or that he has been a complete failure in responding to the disaster. And even many liberals are realizing the scope of Obama’s failure.
Instead of idly speculating whose ass you should be kicking, why don’t you resign from office, so someone who knows what the hell he’s doing can instead actually lead us to an actual solution to this terrible crisis???
We will have our chance to kick Obama’s ass in November.

The best thing about his statement is not really that I’m — excuse the vulgarity, “I want to kick some ass, I’m angry.” If the president said that, you’d say, fine, he’s angry. But I love his formulation that the reason I listen to these experts is that they have the best answers so I know whose ass to kick.
He’s so professorial that he thinks you have to call a meeting of experts to decide whose ass to kick. Don’t most politicians, most executives just decide that at some point, I’m going to go get mad and they don’t have the meetings experts in the Roosevelt Room to decide who to get mad at.
It had not yet occurred to me that I had never needed a room full of bureaucrats to decide whose ass I should kick until Kristol pointed that common sense out to me. I’m just glad I wasn’t drinking milk when I heard this.
You have to appreciate the irony at the start of this article. Democrats have mocked Sarah Palin’s “Drill, baby, drill.” But is their increasingly loud wail to Obama – “Do something, baby, do something” – somehow supposed to be better?

Do something, baby, do something: That’s the cry from Obama supporters and opponents alike as the oil keeps gushing into the Gulf of Mexico.
The political firestorm kept growing yesterday, with supporter James Carville ranting that the administration has been “lackadaisical” and “naive” in its response to the disaster. He urged it to rapidly “move to Plan B.”
But that suggests there was ever a Plan A.
Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is so frustrated with the lack of response to his plan to stop the slick with sand barriers that yesterday he called on the White House and BP to either “stop the oil spill or get out of the way.”
“Plug the damn hole,” President Obama reportedly barked at staffers in frustration after the explosion. That’s right up there with “Heckuva job, Brownie” in terms of clueless statements uttered by presidents in the midst of nationally televised disasters.
Meanwhile, White House regret over Obama’s politically expedient embrace of the “Drill, baby, drill” trope is growing faster than the vast oil slick.
Back on March 31, Obama announced — to the horror of many of his supporters — that he was expanding offshore drilling along the coastlines of the south and mid-Atlantic and in the Gulf of Mexico. Worse, he painted a (too) rosy scenario of offshore drilling being eminently safe.
True, it is rare that a full-blown environmental catastrophe results from an offshore oil well. But it can happen — and a Democratic president who’s embracing drilling ought to know the risks, and be prepared for the worst. But rather than planning for a spill, Obama parroted McCain-Palin talking points about how safe offshore drilling is.
Turns out the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration back in 1994 drafted plans for responding to a major Gulf oil spill, a response called “In-Situ Burn.”
Ron Gourget, a former federal oil-spill-response coordinator and one author of the draft, told the Times of London: “The whole reason the plan was created was so that we could pull the trigger right away.” The idea was to use barriers called “fire booms” to collect and contain the spill at sea — then burn it off. He believes this could have captured 95 percent of the oil from this spill.
But at the time of the Deepwater Horizon explosion, the federal government didn’t have a single fire boom on hand. Nor is there any evidence that the government required BP to have any clear plan to deal with a massive spill. How is this OK?
The administration’s chief response so far was to send out Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to do his best impersonation of a totalitarian thug, proclaiming that the government would “have its boot on the throat of BP.”
(Fun fact: While in the Senate, Salazar backed an increase in oil and gas leases in the Gulf Coast region by promoting and voting for the Gulf of Mexico Energy Security Act of 2006.)
Since the “blame BP” strategy isn’t working, Obama will today announce tougher safety requirements and more rigorous inspections for offshore drilling operations. Sounds nice — except the problem isn’t a lack of safety requirements, it’s that the experts at the US Minerals Management Service ignored the existing requirements.
In fact, it was under Salazar’s reign that the MMS approved BP’s drilling without getting the permits required by law for drilling that might harm endangered species. The agency routinely overruled warnings regarding the safety and environmental impact of drilling proposals in the Gulf.
None of this was a secret.
It also shouldn’t be a secret that no matter how many inspections and safety requirements you have, you can’t ever completely prevent disasters like this one. If you’re going to permit offshore drilling, be prepared to respond to a spill.
If he promised us anything, Obama promised us competence. Instead, we’ve gotten the Keystone Cops.
Ah, competence. One day after Obama is gone, we might actually have some of that in the White House.
Obama is bringing his incompetence everywhere he goes, rather like the travelling salesman with the unfortunate body odor that exudes out of every pour brings stink with him everywhere he goes.
What was it about being a community organizer that prepared him to actually lead anything constructive?
It’s not right to say that Obama has been doing everything the federal government could do; no, he ignored the very first thing that the federal government already had as policy to do in the event of a disaster like this – and has done absolutely nothing else in its place. Oil that could have been contained and burned off is instead murdering all of the pelicans on the coast. And, instead of helping Louisiana do everything it could to keep that oil off its coasts and marshes, Obama’s federal government has massively screwed up on that side of the coin, too. Governor Jindal demanded 24 temporary sand berms to act as a barrier between the coast and the oil; first the federal government said it had to dot every i and cross every t with endless environmental studies before it would authorize any such construction; then the government said it would only permit six berms, and would only actually pay for just one berm. And now the oil is all over the place and its too damn late for much of anything but to scrub oil from the few pelicans that might survive.
Instead, what Zero did was ZERO. Instead of actually working to resolve he problem, Obama has handled this like a campaign issue. He handed all the responsibility over to British Petroleum while simultaneously saying he was responsible. It has all been about words rather than action.
Bobby Jindal has called upon Obama to “either “stop the oil spill or get out of the way.” And of course Obama won’t do either. His government is worse than useless, because it is getting in the way of actual efforts by Louisiana to DO SOMETHING.
“In Revelations, it says the water will turn to blood. That’s what it looks like out here — like the Gulf is bleeding,” said P.J. Hahn, director of coastal zone management for Plaquemines Parish as he kneeled down to take a picture of an oil-coated feather. “This is going to choke the life out of everything.” […]
Eugene, 54, who has worked for decades in a shipyard, said he was growing tired of the government’s response.
“He ain’t much of a leader,” he said of Obama. “The beach you can clean up. The marsh you can’t. Where’s the leadership. I want to hear what’s being done. We’re going to lose everything.” […]
Newly disclosed internal Coast Guard documents from the day after the explosion aboard the Deepwater Horizon rig indicated that U.S. officials were warning of a leak of 336,000 gallons per day of crude from the well in the event of a complete blowout.
The volume turned out to be much closer to that figure than the 42,000 gallons per day that BP first estimated. Weeks later it was revised to 210,000 gallons. Now, an estimated 500,000 to 1 million gallons of crude is believed to be leaking daily.
“He ain’t much of a leader.” You got that right. I was screaming that from the rooftops two years and change ago.
Do we have good information? No, everything keeps turning out to be wrong – and always much for the worse. Is anything getting done? No. Just one failed plan after another. Having never bothered to implement the plan we’ve had since 1994 for a disaster like this.
Now we’re being told that the latest “fix” is capturing about 42,000 gallons of oil a day. Which might sound impressive until you realize that it’s leaking a MILLION gallons a day.
The Gulf of Mexico oil disaster is rather like the Obama administration itself: there’s just no end to this disaster, and all we have instead of solutions is a constant stream of misinformation and excuses.
The lamestream dinosaur media is constantly out there telling us that only whackjobs ever even consider that Barack Obama might be a socialist. They put up a straw man: “He’s not trying to take your house from you,” as though there is no such thing as even a single degree between hard-core Marxism and free market capitalism.
For the record, there is. And Obama is waaaaaaayyyyy toward the side of that political spectrum that is taking this country toward socialism.
Obama has taken over banks and car companies, and wants to take over our health care system. He keeps propping things up when free market capitalism wants to let the system bottom out so it can rebound and reach equilibrium again. He believes in the redistribution of wealth so he can “spread the wealth around.” He believes in class warfare. He believes that private businesses are greedy and evil.
Dr. John C. Drew has his own website, and has posted numerous articles and Youtubed interviews which further describe his recollections of a very Marxist Barack Obama.
“To avoid being mistaken for a sellout, I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets.”

Until now, precious little information has come to light about President Obama’s youthful political views. That may change as disclosures by former political science professor Dr. John C. Drew eventually surface in the mainstream press.
During an evening he spent with Obama in late 1980,Drew, a former Marxist-turned-conservative-Republican, recalled during an interview on Breitbart TV’s “The B-cast” that the young Obama was not only a passionate Marxist, but a Marxist-Leninist, devoted to the revolutionary overthrow of the capitalist system in America.
The meeting occurred in late December, 1980 when Drew, a 1979 Occidental College graduate in his second year of Cornell University grad school, visited his girlfriend, still an Occidental student, who shared a political theory class with Obama.
Drew recalled that Obama, then a college sophomore, showed up in a BMW with his closest friend Mohammed Hasan Chandoo, and “we all went out to dinner, partied and drank, smoked cigarettes—and we did what young Marxists do—we basically argued politics.”
Before the get-together, his then-girlfriend described Obama as “one of us.” What she meant by that was that “he was on our team . . . a blood brother . . .a fellow revolutionary,” said Drew.
As a serious Marxist revolutionary himself in those days, Drew said that as soon as he met young Barack, he realized that this radical college sophomore wasn’t just “dabbling in Marxism . . . he was a Marxist-Leninist dedicated to the overthrow of the capitalist system.”
Drew says on his website (www.anonymouspoliticalscientist.blogspot.com) that his “most vivid memory of Obama was the way he strongly argued a rather simple-minded version of Marxist theory,” while he (Drew) had moved on to a more pessimistic graduate school view that true revolution would never happen in this country.
Drew’s meeting with the young Obama occurred shortly after he experienced his first taste of campus notoriety when publicly speaking out on the anti-apartheid issue and co-founding the anti-apartheid group that is mentioned in Dreams of My Father.
During their meeting, Drew recalls that Obama believed that “America was definitely the enemy, and American elites were the enemy, and whatever America was doing was definitely wrong and bad. He thought that perhaps the Soviet Union was misunderstood, and it was doing a better job for its people than most people realized,”Drew noted in a Newsmax interview.
Although Drew did his senior honors thesis at Occidental on Marxist Economics, his doctoral research at Cornell in 1984 triggered a move to the political right when he realized the fallacy of the Marxist class struggle argument.
However, when Drew crossed the ideological divide from Marxist to conservative Republican, it may have made his academic career a bit more challenging.
As an assistant political science professor at Williams College from 1986 – 1989, Drew was one of three registered Republicans on the faculty. Armed with his newly adopted belief system, Drew says he complained to the powers-that-be about the school’s affirmative action policies that favored less qualified African-American faculty candidates over white candidates, saying that these policies “took away the honor of being a Williams College professor.”
Now a grant-writing consultant in Laguna Niguel, California, Drew says that his meeting with Obama some 30 years ago provided useful evidence of why he was able to win the trust and support of people like Bill Ayers, Bernardine Dohrn, and Alice Palmer. He believes that Obama “never surrendered that tough, Marxist socialist ideology I saw in him as a sophomore at Occidental College.”
When Drew is asked why he took so long to go public with this story, he is quick to explain that although he tried to get the story out during the presidential campaign in 2008, no one in the media would touch it.
In fact, Drew says he was frustrated when he couldn’t get this information out during campaign season, since candidate Obama “was making it sound like people thought he was a socialist because he didn’t share his toys in kindergarten, but I thought he was a socialist because I’d seen him argue from a hard Marxist point of view.”
Obama’s career path was entirely predictable, according to Drew, who says the first logical career move for a revolutionary right out of college is to become a labor organizer or a community organizer. The second step is to become a college professor.
During his stint as a University of Chicago adjunct professor, Obama “was basically promoting the socialist revolution, saying that our Constitution promotes negative liberties but not the positive liberties of a society that advocates wealth distribution.”
Drew’s encounter with the future president nearly 30 years ago sheds some light on the young Obama’s political ideology, one of the many aspects of his life that has not undergone any serious scrutiny by the mainstream press. Drew regards his “15 minutes of fame” that began with a Newsmax interview in February, 2010 as an “opportunity to share what I know about the ‘red diaper’ ideology of the young Barack Obama.”
Saying that he would still be teaching in Massachusetts were it not for the liberal Democrats that control Williams College, Drew says he was pleased that Scott Brown was recently elected as the state’s newest senator, adding that his election “marks the end of the Obama revolution.”
My worldview was already fairly well established by the time I graduated from college. Which is why the notion that Obama was a radical Marxist-Leninist in college, but he’s perfectly mainstream American in his values now just seems like a total load of crap to me. And then you pair common-sense reality up with the fact that Obama was continuing to advocate Marxist notions even after he stopped being a student and started being a professor.
The same mainstream media that flew cross-country so they could dig through Sarah Palin’s garbage refused to look into Barack Obama’s record.
In ACORN offices located in five cities across the country, we have ACORN employees willingly helping a pimp and a prostitute commit tax fraud so they can buy a house which they intend to use as a brothel by purchasing more than a dozen 13-15 year-old illegal immigrant girls. At this point, the question isn’t, “How many ACORN offices would do something so despicable?” but rather, “Are there any ACORN offices that WOULDN’T do something so despicable?
And they engaged in that conduct supported with YOUR federal taxpayer dollars, courtesy of the Democrat Party and a President who used to teach classes for ACORN organizers.
ACORN was involved in scandals and crimes resulting in 19 states as well as Washington D.C. filing criminal charges. We now know that ACORN is not merely a criminal organization, but a morally depraved organization.

CNCS was established in 1993 “to connect Americans of all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their communities and their nation.” It also operates the Serve.gov website, which defines itself as:
“your online resource for not only finding volunteer opportunities in your community, but also creating your own. Use Serve.gov to help you do your part. America’s foundation will be built one community at a time – and it starts with you.”
Since when does America’s foundation require rebuilding? The idea that our country requires an overhaul at the hands of an out-of-control federal government is disturbing – especially when our government is using a taxpayer-supported website to match activists to opportunities so as to promote the President’s agenda.
“Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and, as a result, many of our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran for office. Thus, it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign for State Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress in 1996. By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends.”
Well, it’s long past time to hold Obama accountable for his choice of “old friends.”
“During the transition, we’re going to be calling all of you (ACORN representative in) in to help us shape the agenda. We’re going to be having meetings all across the country with community organizations so that you have input into the agenda for the next presidency of the United States of America.”
We have to realize who Obama is and where he came from – and that the answer to both questions is “ACORN.”
ACORN is slime. Conservatives have known it all along, but the mainstream media refused to report the story. Obama is slime, but the same despicable media have abandoned their duty to shine the light into his Chicago shenanigans. And the agenda all THREE (Obama, ACORN, and the liberal media) share intimately in common for fundamentally transforming this country into the next desperately-failed socialist utopia is slime.
Obama might throw ACORN under the bus the way he threw Jeremiah Wright under the bus. He is a cynical and self-serving politician who has always looked out for #1, after all. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that he spent more than two decades with BOTH. Or that he has been shaped by their vile, despicable, and profoundly anti-American values.

That’s the talking point repeated all over the mainstream media.

These mobs are bussed in by well funded, highly organized groups run by Republican operatives and funded by the special interests who are desperately trying to stop the agenda for change the President was elected to bring to Washington. Despite the headline grabbing nature of these angry mobs and their disruptions of events, they are not reflective of where the American people are on the issues – or the hundreds of thousands of thoughtful discussions taking place around kitchen tables, water coolers and in homes.
Why are people showing up to town hall meetings in droves and shouting down Democrat politicians and White House officials over the Democrats’ multi-trillion health care takeover? It’s manufactured outrage ginned up by some vast, rightwing conspiracy. Let’s ignore the fact that Democrats routinely bus in their people, or that no one was more “well funded” and “highly organized” than the Obama political machine.
But a snippet from a Politico article that is describing the vitriolic town hall meetings is telling:
Within an hour of the disruption, police were called in to escort the 59-year-old Democrat — who has held more than 100 town hall meetings since he was elected in 2002 — to his car safely.
“I have no problem with someone disagreeing with positions I hold,” Bishop said, noting that, for the time being, he was using other platforms to communicate with his constituents. “But I also believe no one is served if you can’t talk through differences.”
A registered Democrat confronting New York Democrat Steny Hoyer at a town hall in Utica said:
“Why would you guys try to stuff a health care bill down our throats in three to four weeks when the President took six months to pick what he wanted for a dog for his kids?!?! What are you doing? What are you doing? Are you willing to have your family members sign on to every bill that you pass?”
Pundits are now using the term “Town hell” to describe the outrage with which voters are confronting Democrats pushing for Obamacare. And it is by no means just Republicans who are utterly outraged and confronting their elected officials.
American voters, by a 55 – 35 percent margin, are more worried that Congress will spend too much money and add to the deficit than it will not act to overhaul the health care system, according to a Quinnipiac University national poll released today. By a similar 57 – 37 percent margin, voters say health care reform should be dropped if it adds “significantly” to the deficit.
By a 72 – 21 percent margin, voters do not believe that President Barack Obama will keep his promise to overhaul the health care system without adding to the deficit, the independent Quinnipiac (KWIN-uh-pe-ack) University national poll finds.
American voters disapprove 52 – 39 percent of the way President Obama is handling health care, down from 46 – 42 percent approval July 1, with 60 – 34 percent disapproval from independent voters. Voters say 59 – 36 percent that Congress should not pass health care reform if only Democratic members support it.
Obama and Democrats are not just losing the argument among Republicans called in by insurance companies to raise havoc. They are in fact losing the debate with the overwhelming majority of the American people – as every single poll on health care shows. It is as disingenuous as hell to try to make the angry “mobs” as being Republican plants. Yet that is precisely what the Democrat Party is doing, and the mainstream media is helping them do it.
There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. This is an example – unprecedented in modern American political history – of a President of the United States seeking information on political opponents who are exercising their 2nd Amendment-protected rights. Imagine the appalled and angry outrage if George W. Bush had solicited the White House to create such an “enemies list.”
The whole affair very much reminds me of the Orwellian 1984 description of anonymous informers – including children against their own parents – spying on and reporting potential thought-criminals who might endanger The Party.
And of course it reminded me of another incredibly Orwellian statement from the Obama administration on the ‘Cash for Clunkers’ program:
“This application provides access to the DoT CARS system. When logged on to the CARS system, your computer is considered a Federal computer system and is the property of the US Government. Any or all uses of this system and all files on this system may be intercepted, monitored, recorded, copied, audited, inspected, and disclosed to authorized CARS, DoT, and law enforcement personnel, as well as authorized officials of other agencies, both domestic and foreign.”
Heritage.org suggests we turn in Democrats to the White House as “the people spreading disinformation about Obamacare.”
And in point of fact, we should turn in Obama to the White House for being one of the people encouraging anger and a mob mentality:
“I need you to go out and talk to your friends and talk to your neighbors. I want you to talk to them whether they are independent or whether they are Republican. I want you to argue with them and get in their face,” [Obama] said.
“I don’t want to quell anger. People are right to be angry. I’m angry. What I want us to do is channel our anger in a constructive way.”
Presumably, that meant trying to limit his followers from just shouting from the streets in front of AIG employees’ houses rather than actually entering the homes and murdering families. Which was nice of him, considering that only Chris Dodd accepted more contributions from AIG.
Hot Air provides the following list of exceptions to the Democrats’ charge of Republican extremism:
I found it amusing and utterly despicable at the same time to read about a 14 year old girl who – after noticing all the Obama T-shirts – decided to wear a shirt that said, “McCain Girl.” And was utterly and hatefully attacked for doing so. Just never forget that Republicans are intolerant and divisive, though.
The left is a group of people who come completely unglued if others do unto them as they did unto others. Hypocrisy defines them; it is their quintessential essence.
The White House is saying that the outrage over ObamaCare “appears to be orchestrated” and “organized” by rightwing organizations. The word “organized” should show how demonstrably ridiculous Obama’s outrage truly is, given his pride in having been a “community organizer.” And let us realize that “orchestrate” is merely another synonym for “organize.”
This community organizer is now mad that communities are beginning to organize to stop government health care they absolutely do not want?
I’ve seen about a dozen videos of so-called “mobs” shouting at Democrats. What I’ve noticed is that members of the audience would ask pointed questions, and the crowd only started shouting down Democrats when their elected officials give stupid and dismissive answers. When someone asked Kathleen Sebelius and Arlen Spector why Congress wasn’t even bothering to read the bills they were voting for, for example, nobody started screaming at Sebelius until she gave the utterly ridiculous answer that she had never served in Congress; nor did they scream at Spector until he answered that they had to work very fast and didn’t have time to read the bills that are transforming our society. And the crowd erupted in outrage at such stupid and contemptible answers.

My own view is this: the Democrat establishment is trying to marginalize the huge crowds going to town halls to confront their elected representatives and telll them NOT to vote for this terrible health care bill. They want the Blue Dog Democrats to ignore the crowds and dismiss them as “plants.” They do so at their own political peril.
It’s rather fascinating. In the aftermath of Rudy Guliani’s and Sarah Palin’s remarks about Barack Obama’s time spent as a community organizer, you would think that something genuinely outrageous had happened; such as claiming that Michelle Obama faked her second pregnancy to cover up the fact that her oldest daughter may have actually given birth to a child fathered by her Barack Obama. That’s what was done to Sarah Palin and her family by the Daily Kos. The Daily Kos scrubbed the articles from its site after it was revealed that Bristol Palin was pregnant with her own baby – and that she could not possibly have beent he mother of Sarah’s son Trig.
It is almost as though the people who fired a howitzer at Sarah Palin are complaining that she shot a spitwad at them. And Sarah Palin had the merit of actually speaking the truth.
Wednesday night on stage in St. Paul, both Sarah Palin and Rudy Giuliani belittled Obama’s work as a community organizer in Chicago in the 80s. Obama called the reaction “curious,” as if he were trying to jump from a post-college job to the presidency.
“The question I have for them is that why would that kind of work be ridiculous? Who are they fighting for?” he said. “I think maybe that’s the problem – that’s part of why they’re out of touch and they don’t get it because they haven’t spent much time working on behalf of those folks.”
And Barack Obama was part of this profoundly un- and anti-democratic organization. ACORN has taken advantage of taxpayer dollars to use any means necessary – most certainly including fraud – to register Democrat voters and alter election outcomes.
It’s bad enough that any politician would at ANY point in their political career involve themselves in such a despicable organization, but Barack Obama put the icing on the cake of hypocrisy in 1996.
I wrote an article about Barack Obama’s destruction of popular Democrat Alice Parker – who had in 1994 won the 13th District Barack Obama wanted with 83% of the vote and who would have easily crushed Obama in 1996. The Obama machine cynically challenged every single signature and managed to get her (and every single other Democrat candidate) off the ballot. That was pretty low, even by Chicago standards.
But (and this is a big but) Barack Obama – the same Barack Obama who used hardball tactics to purge the ballot so he would be the only Democrat running in an overwhelmingly Democrat district of an overwhelmingly Democrat city – had spent his previous career with ACORN doing everything he could to prevent that very thing from happening.
Election ’08: The man who includes being a community organizer on his short resume has a long association with a far-left group that would organize our communities into socialist gulags.
In 1995, Illinois Gov. Jim Edgar balked at implementing the federal motor voter law out of concern that letting people register via postcard and blocking the state from pruning voter rolls might invite vote fraud.
A young lawyer, a community organizer himself, sued on behalf of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (Acorn) and won. The young lawyer was Barack Obama. Acorn later invited Obama to train its staff.
When Obama served on the board of the Woods Fund for Chicago with Weather Underground terrorist William Ayers, the Woods Fund frequently gave Acorn grants to fund its agenda and voter registration activities.
Acorn has been in the lead in opposing voter ID laws and other efforts to ensure ballot integrity. Acorn has been implicated in voter fraud and bogus registration schemes in Ohio and at least 13 other states. Acorn staffers will presumably be out registering voters again this year.
I remember a scene from a favorite movie, “The Hunt For Red October.” Sean Connery, in his role as defecting Soviet sub Captain Marko Ramius, has a dialogue with the interrogating on board KGB monitor. The subject of another Soviet submarine commander – Captain Tupelov – comes up. And when the KGB monitor says, “I know he descends from aristocracy and that he was your student. It’s rumored he has a special place in his heart for you”, Sean Connery’s Captain Ramius sarcastically says, “There’s little room in Tupolev’s heart for anyone but Tupolev.”
Meet the modern-day real-life Tupolev, Barack Hussein Obama.
He’s the kind of man who will work for a nasty organization like ACORN to organize voters by any means necessary – even suing to block an attempt to prune voter rolls where fraud might be involved – who will at the moment it suits his selfish political ambitions use every tactic imaginable to disenfranchise the very voters he had once registered in order to take out a candidate who would have clearly blown him out of the water in any fair vote.
