Flanked by bargain-priced displays of women’s wear and patio lighting, President Barack Obama came to a Wal-Mart store in Silicon Valley on Friday to praise new steps by businesses and communities to deploy solar energy.
The President was showcasing efforts to combat climate change that don’t rely on a disinclined Congress.
But in choosing the giant retailer as the backdrop for his announcement, Obama also triggered a backlash from labor unions and pay equity advocates who say low wages paid by Wal-Mart fly in the face of Obama’s vaunted push on pay equity.

‘What numbskull in the White House arranged this?’ former Labor Secretary Robert Reich, who served in the Bill Clinton administration, said on Facebook.
Obama said more than 300 companies and state and local governments have pledged to use solar technology, and he unveiled his own executive actions aimed at increasing energy efficiency with a goal of reducing U.S. reliance on carbon fuels.
The two tracks underscored Obama’s strategy of sidestepping Congress to advance his own agenda, but they also illustrated the limits of his reach in a bitterly divided government.
‘The commitments we’re announcing today prove that there are cost-effective ways to tackle climate change and create jobs at the same time,’ Obama said at a sprawling Wal-Mart store in Mountain View.

The solar effort will power the equivalent of 130,000 homes, the White House said, while Obama’s administrative actions could reduce carbon pollution in an amount equal to taking 80 million cars off the road for one year.
The White House also announced that long-delayed energy efficiency standards for walk-in coolers and freezers have finally been completed.
Ticking off a list of economic and environmental benefits he attributed to solar technology, Obama cast the commitments as part of a broader campaign to reduce American energy dependence, create jobs in renewable energy and lower heat-trapping emissions blamed for global warming.
‘This is what you call a win-win-win,’ Obama told about 250 store employees as he wrapped up a three-day swing through California focused heavily on raising money for Democrats in advance of November’s midterm elections.

Tweaking the mostly Republican opponents of his energy policies in Congress, Obama lamented that lawmakers have ‘not always been as visionary on these issues as we would like.’
That’s why he’s seizing opportunities this year to act unilaterally to advance those goals, Obama said.
‘Unfortunately, inside of Washington, we still have some climate deniers who shout loud,’ Obama said. ‘But they’re wasting people’s time on a settled debate.’
His policies unable to generate momentum in Congress, Obama has increasingly gone outside the federal government to press his agenda.
He has won commitments from colleges and universities to expand access to more students; he has created innovation hubs that link businesses and education institutions; and he has drawn attention to companies and state and local governments that have increased pay for workers.

Still, that choice of tactics has severely limited what Obama may be able to accomplish, a reality the president acknowledged the night before as he spoke to donors at a fundraiser in La Jolla benefiting House Democrats.
‘Regardless of how hard I push, regardless of how many administrative actions I take, we’re not going to be able to go where we need to go, and can go, and should go unless I’ve got a Congress that’s willing to work with me,’ Obama said.
The White House said it chose Wal-Mart because the company has committed to doubling the number of solar energy projects at its stores, Sam’s Clubs and distribution centers.
The Wal-Mart location he visited gets about 15 percent of its power from solar panels.
Wal-Mart’s president, Bill Simon, said. Obama is the first president to visit one of the chain’s warehouse stores.
SECAUCUS — For the second time this week, the Walmart at Harmon Meadow plaza was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a bomb threat was called in to the store, police said.

A caller phoned in the threat at 1:41 p.m., said Detective Sgt. Dominick DeGennaro of the Secaucus police. Store employees called police, and officers and firefighters searched the store without finding anything, DeGennaro said. The store was allowed to reopen after about an hour, he said.
A nearly identical scenario played out at the same Walmart store on Monday. About 700 people, including customers and employees, were evacuated after a threat was called in to the store at 1:45 p.m., police said.
In Secaucus on Monday, K-9 units from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and the NJ Transit and Jersey City police searched the store for more than two hours before determining there was no bomb, authorities said. The store was allowed to reopen at 4:15 p.m., he said.
Authorities also searched for a link to at least a dozen similar threats that were called in to Walmart stores in Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma over the weekend.

George Soros is a Nazi and an enemy of the United States and has always BEEN a Nazi and an enemy to the United States, but that doesn’t matter to these people. The organizers of those OWS protests get their Judas wages for sabotaging businesses and thereby sabotaging the communities that needed those businesses.

Yes, the Democrat Party viciously attacked Chick-Fil-A in the form of three fascist Democrat Mayors who threatened that business with government power over daring to hold their own views whether those views are protected by the First Amendment or not. Yes, in response Chick-Fil-A benefited from the largest sales in their entire history as hundreds of thousands of people stood in line for as long as three hours to buy their products in response to that fascism. Yes, the left held their own day – a homosexual “kiss-in- that got virtually NOBODY to show up. But they did manage to pull off still another example of fascist liberal intolerance:
On a day that some gay-rights activists are planning a “National Same-Sex Kiss Day,” a Chick-fil-A in Torrance was vandalized overnight with hateful graffiti.
Chick-fil-A employees were greeted Fridays morning with the words “Tastes like hate” scrawled in large black lettering mimicking the chain’s advertising across the back wall of the restaurant at 182nd Street and Hawthorne Boulevard in Torrance.
With media helicopters hovering overhead and police officers on the scene, one employee said, “I’m just trying to sort everything out.”
Chick-fil-A has been at the center of media scrutiny and public debate ever since the company’s president publicly expressed his opposition to same-sex marriage.
On Friday, some gay-rights activists are encouraging same-sex couples to go one of the chicken restaurant’s locations and take a photo or video of themselves kissing.
It remains unclear whether this protest will generate the huge crowds that turned out Wednesday for “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day,” when tens of thousands waited through long lines in a show of support for the executive.
The privately held company declined to give specific sales figures but released a statement to the Los Angeles Times confirming that frenzied sales of chicken sandwiches and cross-cut waffle fries had made for a record-setting day.
“We are very grateful and humbled by the incredible turnout of loyal Chick-fil-A customers on August 1 at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country,” said Steve Robinson, executive vice president of marketing, in the statement. “While we don’t release exact sales numbers, we can confirm reports that it was a record-setting day.”
Who pulled off that victory for liberalism? It was a fascist Obama-voting demon-possessed cockroach, that’s who it was.
By Friday afternoon reports from restaurants around the country showed the number of protesters was low compared to the hundreds of people from around the country who turned out Wednesday for a “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.”
It was of course hundreds of thousands of people nationwide, and “the number of [kiss-in] protestors was nonexistant in comparison. Not that the facts should actually matter or anything. “Facts” and “truth” and “reality” only matter to rightwingers, and if you care about such idiotic concepts you are a racist homophobic bigot.
We’re living in a day when Nazi Democrats like Harry Reid openly deploy Orwellian tactics to demonize their opponents. It doesn’t matter if Harry Reid refused in a vote to release his OWN damn taxes; it doesn’t matter if just a few weeks ago his president was protected by his party when Obama declared executive privilege and refused to provide ANY records surrounding the FACT that the Obama administration put 2,000 guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartel murderers who used those guns to murder at least one US Border Patrol Agent and which likely murdered an American ICE agent as well. How is it that Democrats can surround an act of clear presidential obstruction of justice on the one hand and then turn around and demand records right after refusing to allow any records to be turned over? And do so with such appalling pseudo-self righteousness?
“I don’t think the burden should be on me,” Reid said. “The burden should be on him. He’s the one I’ve alleged has not paid any taxes. Why didn’t he release his tax returns?”
Reid said, “the word’s out that he [Romney] hasn’t paid any taxes for 10 years.” The “word is out” because and ONLY because Harry Reid PUT the word out by making two false and recklessly unsubstantiated statements on the Senate floor while making numerous statements to the press.
This is the new system that Democrats are demanding: they get to make assertions with zero evidence documented by nothing. And the burden of proof is on whomever they accuse. That is pure Nazi bullshit and the Democrat Party is the Nazi Party unless and until they drive Harry Reid into retirement for crap like that. Every Democrat is a fascist for allowing a fascist like Harry Reid to remain in office.
It wasn’t a week ago now that the same Democrat president who was for gay marriage before he was against gay marriage before he was suddenly for gay marriage again pulled that same fascist hat-trick with guns. He joined the crowd of Democrat fascists in trying to take away our constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms. There is absolutely zero question that our founding fathers are firmly on one side and Democrats like Obama are on the other. And to whatever extent America is going-out-of-control with violence it is ONLY because Democrats have “fundamentally transformed” America into a moral cesspool with their evil fascist policies that revel in evil and oppose what is good.
But Obama wasn’t finished with fascism; he is NEVER finished with fascism. So the man who likes to call himself “the commander-in-chief” literally sued to keep the troops under him from being allowed to have a chance to vote his skinny fascist weasel ass out of office. You want to talk about “equal protection under the law?” I’M a victim of unequal protections; I have an ID legally issued to me by the government; the people that Obama and Holder demand be able to vote DON’T have such ID. I’m a US citizen; there’s no reason to believe that the people Obama and Holder demand be able to vote share that distinction. Barack Obama is a cynical fascist weasel who is trying to unconstitutionally stack the deck in his favor by rewarding illegal immigrants who vote overwhelmingly for him and punishing American soldiers who vote overwhelmingly AGAINST him.
All of that pure fascism happened in the Democrat Party between 7/27 and 8/3/2012. It is truly amazing how wicked this party has become.
Still another thing that has happened during that period has been the Democrat Party’s decision to make homosexuality part of their official party platform. Read Romans chapter 1 and tell me that the Democrat Party hasn’t just reached the very bottom of the moral sewer.

47 million “Americans”…? It turns out that…
… many Democrats have used “Americans” to mean various things, from U.S. citizens to U.S. citizens plus immigrants to U.S. citizens plus immigrants and illegal aliens to everyone in North and South America. In the mind of many Democratic Party leaders, the word “American” is a bit fluid.Further, the numbers don’t add up: The 45 to 47 million people that BHO touts as covered by his plan include millions of people who aren’t U.S. citizens.
For instance, BHO’s page (barackobama.com/issues/healthcare) includes this quote from his May 29, 2007 Iowa City, IA speech:
If you are one of the 45 million Americans who don’t have health insurance, you will have it after this plan becomes law.
In the text of the page, it says this:
47 million Americans — including nearly 9 million children — lack health insurance with no signs of this trend slowing down.
Now, let’s turn to the Census Bureau chart in this PDF file (link). On Page 21, the number of those without health insurance in 2006 is indeed 47 million (rounded up). However, only 35.7 million of those are native born or naturalized.
10.2 million of the 47 million are listed as “not a citizen”. The Census Bureau doesn’t say what status those 10.2 million have, but some will be visitors, some will be those working towards citizenship, and some will be illegal aliens. Most likely a good percentage or a majority will in fact be illegal aliens.
When Barack Obama claims his plan wouldn’t cover illegal immigrants, he is lying by the very numbers that he himself provides.
You can’t trust him. Factcheck.org says of his health care advertising:
The Obama campaign released a new ad Feb. 14 in Wisconsin called “Debate,” quoting Bill Clinton’s first secretary of labor, Robert Reich, as saying Obama’s plan covers “more people” than Clinton’s. We find the ad misleading and, in one respect, false.
And Barack Obama’s claim that he won’t cover illegal immigrants is also misleading and false.
Barack Obama and the Democrats claim that the government can use economy of scale to reduce health care prices if the government gets involved. This claim makes sense in theory, but in actual practice is laughably false 100% of the time. The simple reality is that government is inherently inefficient, incompetent, wasteful, and corrupted by special interests and greedy self-interests.
Take something that just occurred as an object lesson. An article titled, “High Medicare Costs, Courtesy of Congress,” describes how Congress discarded a measure that would have required Medicare suppliers to submit bids in favor of a bill that will keep artificially high costs and profits a mainstay of the Medicare system. So Medicare will keep spending $110 on a walker that WalMart sells for $60, as one example. That’s just the kind of “commonsense plan” that Democrats will give you when they’re in charge of things.
It’s not out of cruelty that conservatives oppose big government health care; it’s because government is inherently wasteful (everyone else has to live under a budget or go broke, you know?), and because its simply stupid, risky, and just plain wrong to put a quarter of the American economy under direct government control.
When you add 47 million people to the health care system, you will invariably end up with the rationing of care, just as they have so much of in Europe. And as the government gets more and more of its hands in the health care pie, you can guarantee that both costs and mismanagement will increase more and more.
And when you provide medical coverage to illegal immigrants – as Barack Obama’s plan clearly provides in spite of his disingenuous comments to the contrary – you will continue to encourage millions and millions of uneducated “undocumented” immigrants to continue to flood into this country and further swamp our social services budgets.
This country simply cannot afford Barack Obama’s socialist welfare-state agenda.
