There’s Something About Rats And Sinking Ships: Obama Economic Advisors Fleeing Administration

June 9, 2011

A cartoon puts this story into perspective nicely:

That’s five Obama senior economic advisors.  And five rats swimming to shore.

And, yes, they can:

WASHINGTON — Austan Goolsbee, a longtime adviser to President Barack Obama,  will resign his post as the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers this  summer to return to teaching at the University of Chicago Graduate School of  Business, the White House announced Monday.

Obama called him “one of America’s great economic thinkers.”

Goolsbee has been the face of the White House on economic news, and is a  regular every first Friday of the month explaining the administration’s take on  the latest jobless numbers.

A comment I came across summed up this latest development brilliantly:

So Obama lost all three of the nitwits who shaped his bizzarro economic policies. Summers bailed early, as did Romer, but Goolsbee was the dumbest of the three.

Which, of course, was precisely why he lasted the longest.

Let’s go back and review the fruit of Obama’s economic triumvirate – the last fool of which just left with his little rodent tail between his legs.  It was called “the Recovery Act.”  And here’s what these brilliant little rats predicted if Obama could shove his $3.27 TRILLION pile of pork through Congress:

It turns out that the only thing the Stimulus stimulated was public sector union employment.

A large chunk of the union dues will, inevitably, end up in the coffers of Democrat politicians.

It’s legalized theft, plain and simple.  All taxpayers, irrespective of political persuasion, are funding Democrat politicians through the unholy, unlawful alliance of big government and the Democrat Party.

Remember in 2012.

Unemployment would never rise above 8% if this group of “America’s great economic thinkers” got their way, we were assurred.  And they got their way.

It was called “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.”  Jack Kevorkian could have called his suicide machine “The American Recovery and Reinvestment Machine.”  The results of bothy turned out to be basically the same.

Reality set in, but when you live in the happy Marxist camper land of Keynesian extremism, love means never having to say you’re sorry for your massive failures.

Obama billed Austan Goolsbee as “one of America’s greatest economic thinkers.”  Becuase, apparently, all of America’s greatest economic thinkers, like Obama himself, NEVER HELD A REAL JOB IN HIS ENTIRE LIFE.  Why did Goolsbee get such a critically important job?  Because, he is a doctrinaire Chicago liberal who could be counted upon to be personally loyal to doctrinaire Chicago thug Obama.

Take a look at the real-world experience Obama has surrounded himself with:

“Well, I’ve never actually performed brain surgery before, but I read a book about it once, and I taught a class in which we discussed brain surgery …”  “YOU’RE HIRED!!!  BEGIN OPERATING IMMEDIATELY.  YOUR PATIENT IS THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.”

Liberals are abject fools.  And the only thing more foolish than a liberal is a liberal “expert.”

Here’s where we’re heading, America:

Poll: Record-high number think country headed into depression
By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 6/8/11 12:06 PM EDT

A record-high of nearly half the country fears the economy is careening toward a depression, helping push President Barack Obama’s approval rating down by six points in just the last two weeks, according to a new poll.

[…]

Obama’s dropping numbers come as Americans’ fears that the country is headed into another Great Depression are higher than they’ve ever been in the CNN poll. In all, 48 percent of those surveyed said another great depression is likely in the next 12 months, while 41 percent said the same in 2009 and 38 percent said so in 2008. A slight majority – 51 percent – said they don’t think the economy will plunge into a deep depression.

But while Americans are voicing concern that the economy is getting worse and plunging toward a depression, Obama said Tuesday that he’s “not concerned about a double-dip recession.” Job growth in May totaled 54,000 jobs, far fewer than the economy has create for several consecutive months, but Obama said it’s not yet clear if last month was “a one-month episode or a longer trend.”

Let’s sing “All we are is just another bump on the road” to Pink Floyd’s “The Wall” while Obama finds another Marxist egghead academic who can keep steering the good ship USS America into every iceberg in the ocean.

Of course, it’s harder to steer when the economists at the wheel keep seeing the next Obama-caused disaster coming and leap off screaming…

Danger, Democrats At Work: Obama Twists Into Pretzel, Reid Distances Himself, Pelosi Demands Investigation

August 18, 2010

Barack Obama – desperately wanting to divert attention away from his failed policies and the terrible economy those failed policies have produced – poured gasoline onto the mosque being planned near Ground Zero and then lit the match.

The White House went from “deeming [the mosque] a local issue that local politicians can and should deal with,” to “endorsing” it, to waffling away from his endorsement to the point of lunacy.

In light of Obama’s pretzel-twisting flip-flopping cowardice, comedian Jon Stewart proposes Obama adopt a new campaign slogan: “Yes we can . . . But should we?

Harry Reid came out in opposition to Obama’s endorsement, which Obama walked back into a non-endorsing endorsement:

“The First Amendment protects freedom of religion,” said Reid’s spokesman in a statement. “Senator Reid respects that but thinks that the mosque should be built someplace else.”

Which is exactly the position of the right-wing of the Republican Party:

U.S. House Republican leader John Boehner called Obama’s “endorsement” of the center’s construction near Ground Zero troubling.

“The fact that someone has the right to do something doesn’t necessarily make it the right thing to do,” Boehner said in a statement. “This is not an issue of law, whether religious freedom or local zoning. This is a basic issue of respect for a tragic moment in our history.”

Harry Reid is in a fight for his political life, and that may be why he had to actually honestly represent the clear will of 70% of the American people for a change.

Enter Nancy Pelosi, who demands an investigation of those who oppose the mosque her Messiah voted for before he voted against it:

Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) today called for an investigation of those opposing the mosque being planned for construction a block away from the site of the September 11, 2001, terror attacks on New York City that toppled the Twin Towers at the World Trade Center complex in lower Manhatten and killed nearly 3000 people.

Speaking to reporters in San Francisco, Pelosi at first deferred to New Yorkers on the mosque, calling it an “urban development question” for them to decide.

“I think everybody respects the right of people in our country to express their religious beliefs on their property. The decision though as to how to go forward in New York is up to New York,” Pelosi said.

Pelosi reiterated that New Yorkers should decide in response to a follow-up question about Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) differing with President Barack Obama on the construction of the mosque, but then launched into a brief tirade against being questioned on the mosque and demanded an investigation be made into the opposition to the mosque.

“There is no question there is a concerted effort to make this a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded. How is this being ginned up that here we are talking about Treasure Island, something we’ve been working on for decades, something of great interest to our community as we go forward to an election about the future of our country and two of the first three questions are about a zoning issue in New York City,” hissed Pelosi.

Audio of Pelosi’s comments was posted by KCBS-AM-FM which ignored Pelosi’s call to investigate the opposition to the mosque in its summary of her remarks–likewise for the San Francisco Chronicle.

Audio of Pelosi calling for an investigation into the opponents of the mosque, and how they are being funded.

Mind you, she’s not calling upon an investigation as to how the mosque is going to be funded, and which possibly hostile and jihadist foreign sources might be involved with the funding.

She’s not looking into these questions:

The Cordoba Initiative has reported less than $20,000 in assets. Where the $100 million for his project would come from is anybody’s guess. Furthermore, it’s fair to ask why, exactly, Imam Rauf has insisted on building the mosque so close to ground zero, and why he wants to unveil it on the 10th anniversary of the attacks. This not an issue of religious freedom, but rather, a question of safety and security.

Here’s another question: the Governor of New York has offered to provide another site for the community center.  And been ignored.  Why won’t the Muslims budge on demanding that they build right next to Ground Zero?

No.  The Speaker of the House of Representatives is demanding that the people representing the 70% of the American people who oppose the mosque should be investigated.

The mosque would be built less than 600 feet from Ground Zero.  On a site that is technically very much a part of Ground Zero, given the fact that it was hit in the 9/11 attack by the landing gear of the plane that slammed into one of the towers of the World Trade Center.

If this mosque is built, our worst enemies overseas will rejoice over their victory.  By Islamic tradition, you commemorate a great victory by building a mosque on the site of that victory.

There are over 3,000 mosques in the United States.  Many have been recently built, and many more are presently under construction.  How easy is it to build a Christian church today in an Islamic country?  Try, “impossible.” And that’s even if we don’t try to build one within 600 feet of Mecca.

You want to investigate someone, Nancy?  Investigate Harry Reid.  Investigate the Democrats who are backing away from Obama and from the Ground Zero mosque that he endorsed.  Hell, investigate the voters who decided to elect such a remarkably stupid and evil woman to be the Speaker of the House in the first place.

I find it amazing that Nancy Pelosi felt so free to falsely and maliciously demagogue and demonize Tea Party protesters who were clearly acting within their rights as American citizens, only to now demand an investigation into those who are STILL acting within their rights to oppose an ill-considered mosque being built too close to Ground Zero.

She denounces those who make the mosque a political issue EVEN AS SHE MAKES THE DAMN MOSQUE A POLITICAL ISSUE.

It’s long-passed time we vote these hypocrite fools out of office.

On the “bright side,” at least liberals have finally found a religion that they want to defend and not relentlessly attack.  Nancy and Barry Hussein will fight to the last Democrat to defend Sharia law which cuts off the nose and ears of a Muslim girl for fleeing a pre-arranged marriage.  But where are they with Christian churches, where liberal commissions routinely deny them the right to build right here in the USA? More.  Where are they with St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which was destroyed in the 9/11 attack, and STILL not allowed to rebuild?

Why is it the tolerant thing to build a mosque near Ground Zero when Muslims created the horror of Ground Zero to begin with?  Why isn’t it tolerant to first rebuild the church that was destroyed by Muslims?  Why are we supposed to passively allow Muslims to lecture us about our “intolerance” when Islam is far and away the most intolerant religion and culture on the face of the earth?

Why don’t we investigate why Nancy Pelosi and Democrats undermine Christianity as a matter of routine, and bow (literally) and scrape before Islam?

Space Program: Obama’s Strategy To Turn America Into Banana Republic Moving Like Clockwork

April 21, 2010

It’s official.  The only nation ever to put a man on the moon will become a third world country in the modern space race under the Obama administration.

You can’t deny, however, that such a reality WOULD in fact be “fundamentally transforming America.”  There.  See, Obama DID keep at least one campaign promise!

Obama laid out his policy for future space exploration the other day.  Some feedback from men who – unlike Obama – are actual patriots with an actual clue:

Obama, being sensitive to criticism, scheduled his trip to Florida today to not only shore up support for his NASA cuts but to shine the spotlight away from thousands of Tea Party protests all over the country on this tax day. NASA is one of the many non-entitlement programs that Obama is cutting to finance his socialistic dream.

I interviewed Dick Gordon, command module pilot of Apollo 12 today after the President’s speech. When asked what he thought of the speech he answered, “Not much. The President was long on rhetoric but short on specifics. Wait until the Russians are the only game in town. Their $50 million fee to the space station will escalate.”

Gene Cernan, the last man to walk on the moon was interviewed today by Neil Cavuto after the speech. Cernan stated, “I have concerns about the future of this country. I’m not on board with Obama’s transformation of America. The President’s vision is a vision to nowhere. Nothing has changed today after I heard the President. You can take parts of his glib presentation today and add them up and there is no defiinition, no detail, there’s no real destination, no focus.”

Let’s see: “The President was long on rhetoric but short on specifics.”  Why do the utterly vacuous Obama campaign slogan, “Hope and Change” come to mind?

And: “You can take parts of his glib presentation today and add them up and there is no definition, no detail, there’s no real destination, no focus.”  Well, okay.  No definition.  No detail.  No real destination.  No focus.  But smile, pump your fist, and holler, “Yes, we can!” when you say that.

In Barry Hussein, America decided that it wanted a self-deluded tool whose arrogance was outmatched only by his inexperience.  Yes, we did, and now no, we can’t.

Neil Armstrong, Eugene Cernan, and Jim Lovell pretty much summed up the entire Obama presidency in the words, “the USA is far too likely to be on a long downhill slide to mediocrity.”

Hope and change!  Yes, we can!

A few details about Obama’s “Dumb now, disaster later” policy:

Armstrong and his colleagues complained that the cancellation would amount to wasting the roughly $10 billion that has been allocated to Constellation over the past five years. “Equally importantly, we will have lost the many years required to re-create the equivalent of what we will have discarded,” they wrote.

Someone said of the result of Obama’s policy for NASA something that is very much like the result of Obama’s tenure in the White House: “the agency of pipe dreams and fairy tales.”

And just in case you think that Obama’s a terrible president, correct yourself: Obama’s a HISTORICALLY terrible president.

Dr Mike Griffin, a former head of NASA, put it this way:

“Only once previously has a US president recommended to the Congress that this nation take a backward step in space. On that occasion, President Nixon cancelled the Apollo programme, a decision which will come to be regarded as one of the most strategically bankrupt decisions in human history. If such a thing is possible, this decision is even worse.”

Let me end by quoting Barack Obama’s handpicked science czar.  Surely Obama’s SCIENCE czar can put Obama’s NASA policy into perspective for us.

We can’t expect to be number one in everything indefinitely.”

YES WE CAN … Oooooops… not.

We certainly can’t expect to be number one in anything for very long under this failure of a president.

From the generation that looked up at the sky and then did the impossible by putting a human being on the moon and bringing him safely home, to the generation that hung their heads down in shame as their president apologized for their country’s former greatness.
