Lying, Demagogic White House Finally Gets Its Media Smackdown

I like the title from Moe Lane best: “White House tries to muzzle media; draws back a bloody stump.”

But Allahpundit exposes the true deceit and hypocrisy of the White House that led to its bloody stump:

Decide for yourself what the most disgraceful aspect of this is. Was it the fact that Gibbs told Jake Tapper explicitly on Monday that the White House wouldn’t try to dictate to the press pool who should and shouldn’t be included — before doing precisely that? Was it Anita Dunn going out of her way to say she respects Major Garrett as a fair reporter — before the administration decided he didn’t deserve a crack here at Feinberg? Or was it the repeated insistence by Dunn and Axelrod that of course the administration will make its officials available to Fox — before pulling the plug today?

The other networks deserve the praise they’re getting for standing up to the Baby-in-Chief, but if they had acquiesced in this freezeout, a precedent would have been set that would have been eagerly used by future Republican presidents to close them off too.  And don’t think they weren’t all keenly aware of it.

Hot Air does a very good job of showing what Obama and his cockroaches are full of.

The video is a great watch for anyone who likes to see the good guys win and the bad guys lose:

The Hot Air piece exposes the pattern of constant lies coming out of this White House.  They are as dishonest as the sun is hot.

The White House’s petulant demagoguery of Fox News has been utterly great for Fox News as their ratings have gone through the roof.  They nearly outstrip all of their competitors combined.  Even liberals are acknowledging that Fox News has been “undamaged” by the demagogic White House campaign against them.

Meanwhile, only 43% of voters would be willing to re-elect this whiner-in-chief.  And he’s seen the fastest drop in the polls of any president in 50 years.

So you just keep demonizing Fox News, you demon.  I think it’s workin’ just great for ya.

  1. The Center Square Says:

Tried to muzzle them? Really? How so? Took them off the air? Arrested them? Raised their taxes? Filed criminal charges? No, no, no and no.

They merely contradicted them. Nothing wrong with that. In America, we call it free speech. It is absurd to claim that the White House is trying “muzzle” Fox News.

You just aren’t that bright, are you Square?

On this very article that you are posting to, the White House tried to shut Fox News out of the press pool. That is an attempt at muzzling.

Further, it is good news that every single other member of the press pool – ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN – unanimously told the White House that if they wanted to muzzle Fox, the rest of them would muzzle the White House by refusing to participate in the press pool interview with the Pay Czar unless Fox was included. And the White House backed down.

In America, we call your comment free speech. But we also call it rather astounding ignorance.

  3. The Center Square Says:

Not so. They are not permitting Fox to interview certain administration officials. Fox has full access to the press pool.

Either way, the allegation that was made is “muzzling.” That means restricting what Fox can say. That allegation is false. Fox can say anything it wants.

  4. Michael Eden Says:

I don’t know what to tell you.

First of all, I merely cited another article title. If you don’t like that title, why don’t you please go and whine over there?

Second, the White House has directly been attempting to marginalize Fox News. That itself is a form of muzzling. And we haven’t seen an administration do anything like this since Nixon. Now they are trying to directly exclude Fox News from participating in or exercising its role as a member of the press pool.

Today the White House stepped up its attack on Fox News, announcing that the network would no longer be able to conduct interviews with officials as a member of the Press Pool. The Pool is a five-member group consisting of ABC, CBS, CNN, Fox News and NBC organized by the White House Correspondents Association. Its membership is not subject to oversight by the government. Before an interview with “Pay Czar” Kenneth Feinberg, the administration announced that Fox News would be banned from the press pool. This marks the first time in history that an administration had attempted to ban an entire network from the press pool.-To their credit, the other networks objected. They told the White House that if Fox were banned, none of the other networks would participate. The White House relented, but in an apparent act of petulant retaliation, it restricted each network to a two-minute interview instead of the standard five.

Your position is so ridiculous and so extreme that ABC says your wrong, NBC says your wrong, CBS says your wrong, and CNN says your wrong. You’re just wrong.

You might be morally and intellectually incapable of comprehending why what the White House tried to do is so wrong. But your betters do.

Even Obama says its wrong with his own words: PRESIDENT OBAMA: “Well, look— I think that we have an obligation in Washington, as leaders, to make sure that we are sending a strong message. That we can disagree without being disagreeable. Without— you know, questioning each other’s motives. When we start caricaturing the other side— I think that’s a problem.”

And then that same Obama sends out his chief of staff (Emanuel), his senior adviser (Axelrod), and his communications director (Dunn) and has them both question Fox News’ motives – the entire network – and caricature them. And you don’t have a problem with such blatant hypocrisy and dishonesty.

The liberal Washington Post thinks you’re wrong, too, again shows that Obama’s own words absurdly contradict his attack on Fox News, and says:

Where the White House has gone way overboard is in its decision to treat Fox as an outright enemy and to go public with the assault. Imagine the outcry if the Bush administration had pulled a similar hissy fit with MSNBC. “Opinion journalism masquerading as news,” White House communications director Anita Dunn declared of Fox. Certainly Fox tends to report its news with a conservative slant — but has anyone at the White House clicked over to MSNBC recently? Or is the only problem opinion journalism that doesn’t match its opinion? On “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace replayed a quote from an Obama interview: “I don’t always get my most favorable coverage on Fox, but I think that’s part of how democracy is supposed to work. You know, we’re not supposed to all be in lock step here.”

And yet if we’re not all in lock step, the same guy who said that will clearly use every possible means to punish whoever isn’t in lock step. And at the same time, he said that having a Fox News reporting is part of how democracy is supposed to work – only to prove by his own subsequent actions that he doesn’t much like democracy.

You are a person who is disinterested in truth. Because the tactic of citing editorializers like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity to then target a news outlet with hundreds of journalists (many who established their careers in other networks) is utterly deceitful. But you don’t care about lies. And you don’t care much about basic intelligence either, given the fact that all one has to do is turn to Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow on MSNBC to see that Fox isn’t the only news network with plenty of partisan editorializers.

And you are a person without virtue. Because if George Bush had singled out MSNBC or CNN, your ilk would have come unglued — as the Washington Post acknowledges. You don’t give a fig about treating others the way you’d want to be treated. What Obama is doing is Nixonian – and plenty of liberals who DO have virtue have publicly stated that they are appalled by what Obama is doing. But not you – because you lack the moral compass that all these other people have.

The funny thing is that people like you are arch-conservatives’ best friends. You are so over the top extreme that decent people can’t help but reject you. The New York Times is going bankrupt, while the conservative Wall Street Journal is now the #1 newspaper in the country. And as we speak, Fox News is enjoying historically high ratings – equaling the entire combined ratings of its four cable competitors – even as Obama has now lost more in the polls than any president in 50 years (according to Gallup). 52% of the country now disapproves of Obama, and he has an approval index of – 13 (Rasmussen). And only 43% of voters would vote to re-elect him.
