WH: Obama regrets vote against raising debt limit
Associated Press – 4/11/2011WASHINGTON – The White House says President Barack Obama regrets his vote as a senator in 2006 against raising the debt limit.
A fight over raising the debt limit is looming, and the White House is trying to explain away the apparent contradiction between Obama’s previous opposition, and his position now that it must be increased.
Press Secretary Jay Carney said Monday that Obama believes his vote was a mistake. He said Obama now realizes that the debt ceiling is too important to be trifled with.
Republicans are threatening to withhold their votes to raise the ceiling unless Obama agrees to major spending reductions.
A failure to raise the debt limit would mean the government would not be able to make debt payments, leading to an unprecedented default on the national debt.
Oh, well, I guess that fixes everything. The man was just utterly incompetent back then. But now when he’s in the same position his moral and intellectual superior in every way – that’s George W. Bush – was in, he suddenly realizes he made a mistake.
And you’ve got to give this post turtle in the Oval Office leeway, after all.
But Obama didn’t just vote against raising the debt ceiling; he personally demonized George Bush for trying to raise it. He said:
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
“America has a debt problem,” Obama said in 2006. That year, Republicans passed their last budget before losing power to Democrats until this year. It had a deficit of $161 billion. The next year the Democrats virtually tripled that deficit to $459 billion. And in two years of Obama it has soared to $3 TRILLION.
The AP correctly pointed out that “It was a blast by the freshman lawmaker against a Bush request to raise the debt limit to $8.96 trillion.”
It was a personal attack by an evil fool against a president which history now proves knew what he was doing versus the current moral idiot who clearly does not.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner warned Congress Thursday that it must raise the statutory limit on the nation’s debt by the end of March or risk an unprecedented and economically devastating default on American debt.
“Never in our history has Congress failed to increase the debt limit when necessary,” Geithner said in the letter, which was sent to all members of Congress. “Failure to raise the limit would precipitate a default by the United States. Default would effectively impose a significant and long-lasting tax on all Americans and American businesses and could lead to the loss of millions of American jobs.”
Obama hasn’t changed since then; he’s the same reckless fool that he was in 2006. The only difference is that this reckless fool has been promoted to the highest office in the land and in the world.
Obama was dead wrong about pretty much everything he’s ever believed. Obama was dead wrong about the war on terror (or as he demanded it be called, “overseas contingency operations” or, even more insanely, “man caused disasters.” Obama was dead wrong on Guantanamo. Obama was dead wrong about military commissions. Obama was dead wrong about unlimited detainment of some terrorists. Obama was dead wrong about rendition. Obama was dead wrong about presidential authority to wage military actions. Obama was dead wrong about punitive taxes on the rich. Obama was dead wrong about his out-of-control budgets. Obama was dead wrong about every single policy he ever held – on the evidence of his own reversals.
Barack Obama is at best a colossal fool, the grand fool of all fools. At worst he is the most evil and depraved man to ever contaminate the White House with his moral filth. Personally, given that no one is more foolish than the wicked, I believe he is both all at once.
This is God damn America, as Barack Obama’s pastor and spiritual mentor for 23 years said:
“No, no, no, not God bless America. God damn America!”
The hallmark of God damned America is that we get the despicable and vile leaders that we deserve. And God damn America, but we sure got us a turd-and-half.

Republicans have had no control over either the House or the Senate since 2006. The last REPUBLICAN passed budget for FY 2007 contained a deficit of $161 billion. Contrast that with the Democrats’ budgets. The VERY NEXT Democrat-passed budget for FY 2008 had a deficit of $459 billion – nearly THREE TIMES the size of the previous Republican defict. The Democrats FY 2009 budget had a deficit of $.142 TRILLION and the FY 2010 budget had a deficit of $1.6 TRILLION. If that’s not bad enough, we haven’t seen ANY budget at all from Democrats since April of 2009. They were too recklessly irresponsible to even bother to PASS a budget – which is THE FIRST priority of any governing body that has anything whatsoever to do with money.

And let’s recall that Bill Clinton’s economic improvements DIDN’T happen until after he famously said “the era of big government is over.” While income taxes went up under Clinton, THE CAPITAL GAINS TAX GOT CUT DRAMATICALLY.
Following Bush’s tax cuts, Bush had an unprecedented 52 consecutive months of job growth. George Bush created 8 million jobs.

Now, why is it that the we aren’t getting jobs even though the Bush tax cuts are still in effect? That scares people and businesses away from investing and expanding. 2) Things like Obama-Care, the Dodd-Frank Act, the attacks by the NLRB against Boeing, and the numerous EPA attacks on business. Regulations cost businesses more in compliance than they pay in income taxes and more than they generate in profits. And Obama has regulated the bloody piss out of them, They are waiting him out. They won’t create jobs until Obama is gone and the Democrats’ power is broken (they still have total control of the White House and the US Senate).
As a result of Obama’s demonic demagogic class warfare policies that punish workers by forcing employers to cut their workforces, black people have been set back DECADES. And women are losing ground. Obama is HURTING the poor while falsely and cynically claiming to be helping them.

I wonder where you get these facts from. Probably conservative columnists or other underground websites that share your views. You do nothing to prove your point other than to demean those who disagree with you. In order to have respect for your views, you should respect others as well.
If Barack Obama is so inept at everything, as you claim, then why did the American people elect him? Keep in mind, before you call the American people names, that these are the same Americans who elected George W. Bush; they elected W twice! And if he wasn’t bad (look at his mishap in China, calling the Japanese “Japanions”, being a drunk frat boy at Yale while failing, or starting two wars with one of them having no basis), then I don’t know what is.

The fact is that your points are made to try and put others down. If you have a point then why call me names. I do not claim to be a liberal, I merely point out that what you say holds no water. You want facts however? Let’s compare Obama’s higher ratings to Bush on Gallup. You want facts, look at the recent CNN article (with A similar one one YAhoo a few months later) that wondered why Bush raised the debt ceiling NINE times in EIGHT years. Obama? Once in three and a half years. Explain that with the hateful language you pride yourself on. Furhermore, just because you have an opinion, it doesn’t make it right. That is why we Americans are viewed negatively around the world. Arrogance. You are no better than any politician on The Hill. You have no capacity to say ‘yes’ if it comes from a liberal because you claim to know everything.
In regards to education, Obama is a much more refined and humble man than Bush. This much is fact. Why could Obama successfully talk with the heads of such countries as India and China an feel welcome? Because he is humble and has respect. I have no doubt that many of the things you say hold merit. But nonetheless, I would imagine that you are not so foolish as to believe that you could do any better than Obama. You are afraid of seeing someone so different and capable run the White House. I was not a fan of Bush, but I did agree with many things he said as did I when Reagan was here.
In the end, we gave Bush a solid eight years to ruin the country and our outward image. He was arrogant and childish, and we were foolish to give him one chance let alone two. One more point. When you call me “worthless ideologue tool”, I think you would be pleased to hear that I am a part of the rich you adore. I went to Yale undergrad and then Columbia medical school, and am now a practicing Cardiovascular surgeon in the east coast. My salary? Roughly $850,000 per, with maybe an additional $50,000 coming in bonuses. Taxes? I pay about 45 percent, so just under $450,000 per year. I am not averse to paying taxes. As long as my money doesn’t go to Blackwater and Bush’s friends. I don’t want my money to go to companies who supply us AND the terrorists that we fight. Just thought you should know. Thanks.

Are Republicans hypocrites on the debt ceiling? Not much.
Republicans for the most part are NOT saying they won’t raise the debt ceiling (aside from Michelle Bachmann and a couple of others). What they are saying is that if they vote for an increase in the debt ceiling, they will NOT support more taxes. And they also demand a corresponding spending cut.
Now, if you’re going to argue that Republcians not wanting tax hikes or wanting a spending cut somehow makes them “hypocrites,” you are a truly idiotic jackass. Both are at the core of their party’s philosophy.
Now, if you want REAL HYPOCRITES, then take a look at the Democrats.
First of all, the Democrats are massive hypocrites over a balanced budget. Democrats always claim they WANT a balanced budget. But that’s a LIE. The Republicans offered a balanced budget amendment – THE ONLY WAY WE’LL EVERY HAVE A BALANCED BUDGET EVER AGAIN – and Democrats refused to allow it to even come up for a vote. Which is to say that every single Democrat who says they want a balanced budget is a documented liar.
Then there’s the abject hypocrisy of DEMOCRATS on the debt ceiling.

I won’t allow “College Student’s/Uncle Sam’s” final remarks because I’ve blocked him, but here’s what he said in two separate posts:
In one way, it was stand-up for him to use the word “apologize.” But he never actually truly apologizes for what he did.
I blocked “Uncle Same” because he clearly implied that I was inventing facts. And that is simply not true. My facts are not only genuine, but I LINK to the sources. It was a false and demagogic straw man, and I don’t stand for that.
And when I challenged “Uncle Sam” to substantiate his claim, he never even so much as TRIED. Rather he continued on as though it was okay to smear somebody and then pretend he had done nothing of the sort.
For the record, “refute” means “to prove someone is false.” “Uncle Sam/College Student” most certainly did NOT “refute” me; I challenged him to do so, and he ignored my challenge.
Don’t accuse me of not having my facts correct unless you are prepared to PROVE that my facts are not correct. I will block you, and I will mock you.

I’ll say two things about your wanting to know what I had to say if you were rich, Uncle Sam/College Student:
1) Being rich is no big deal. There are people who have a lot of money who don’t deserve it; and there are people who don’t have a lot of money who deserve a lot MORE money. This country is not based on arisocracy, but MERITocracy; we don’t give people exalted status just because they’re rich. If someone wants to get punched, he can try to cut in line in front of me claiming, “I don’t have to wait because I’m rich.” Which was why – even though I didn’t believe your claim re: being a rich doctor – I said “lah dee dah.”

Remember America YOU were hoodwinked by the Democratic Party who forced your sordid Racist history down you throats by giving you a choice between a black man and a son of the soil.
What the Democrats and the true leaders of this country did is probably the greatest SPIN move in American history.

George Bush liberated Iraq from a vile and evil tyrant dictator who murdered at least 400,000 of his own citizens.
Bush created a stable democracy in the heart of an Arab world that had NEVER seen anything CLOSE to democracy.
And after demonizing the Iraq War and the surge that won that war, Obama is now actually TAKING CREDIT for it. Because that’s just the lowlife pile of slime he is.
Let me say a little more about that. George Bush recognized that Afghanistan was no place for the US to get bogged down. And that we WOULD get bogged down there. So he focused on Iraq, a country whose terrain and culture and people would enable us to create a stable democratic alternative in the heart of the Islamic world.
A Democrat strategist revealed the following about just how cynical and vile Democrats were regarding Afghanistan and Iraq:
It wasn’t BUSH who got us bogged down in an unwinnable war in terrible terrain with a people who are ignorant and who will NEVER understand why we’re there, you ignorant fool. IT WAS OBAMA. OBAMA GOT US INTO THIS HELLHOLE QUAGMIRE.
And on top of the Afghanistan hellhole which Obama MASSIVELY EXPANDED, Obama also got us into wars in LIBYA, and YEMEN, and PAKISTAN.
